No, he told me that many years ago when I ask him about his childhood. He hasn't talked about it since. My father considers himself Canadian now.

Many refugees don't fight. Of course, they are usually given the chance to start a new life somewhere else, so the question that bugs me is, how can any group remain refugees for so long? When the Gaza strip was under Egyptian control, didn't the Palestinians have Egyptian citizenship?

While part of that hell is created by people like Arafat who endorse suicide bombing, part of it is also being killed by an Israeli missile because a suspected terrorist happened to live near you or having the farm where you work separated from your house by the new security barrier...

I'm not intimately familiar with the details of modern nukes, but given the size of Israel, wouldn't a strike on any Israeli city cause fallout over the Palestinians too?

Zephyr, you're right, but Israel is doing all it can to stop the tide of suicide bombers. Collateral damage is a small price for their current success.

As far as I can see, Israel's military retaliations only made the situation worse for Israelis as well as Palestinians. Every person killed, terrorist or not, is another martyr to inspire more people to kill Israelis. The security barrier is a better idea - from what I've read on wiki it's led to fewer deaths on both sides.

However, routing the barrier through Palestinian land and disrupting their livelihood - for the sake of Jewish settlers - is, I think, a mistake. Leaving the settlers unprotected would also be a mistake, since they'd probably be ripped to pieces. Solution? Pull out the settlers. Compensate them if possible, but I think most of them were dafka right-wingers to settle there in the first place.

If you had any sort of argument, you would need to pull out the racism card. You have trouble seeing the big picture. Palestinians aren't even a race.

Terrorism is a huge expense to Israel. I can personally guarantee that Palestinians have paid only a small fraction for the damaged caused by their militants. Really, Palestinians should be lashing out at the terrorists that forces this suffering upon their own people. But instead they produce MORE terrorists, tightening the vice.

I used the term 'karma' earlier, but a more accurate concept would be the Jewish 'chamesh' symbol- a upside-down hand with an eye at the center. The Chamesh guards against the 'evil eye' and deflects ones actions, good or bad back at him.

Also, whether or not the barrier works is irrelevant. The ultimate goal is peace and integration. Free movement of Israelis and Palestinians through the region, a lot like the Canada/US borders. I would love to tour the area without all this military nonsense.

So would I. But if the barrier prevents people on either side from being killed then it can only improve the chance of peace.

No wall lasts forever, and if mutual trust and respect is gained, borders should become less important anyway. I don't know much about the situation is in Canada but isn't the EU is another example of boundaries disappearing?

The thing is, the Palestinians would probably accept Israeli control over the whole region of they were given a right of return and the democratic right to vote for a new Israeli government, but given the current animosity I can't see a single-state solution as workable.

Hay Brian Foley, if you are in such agreement and solidarity with hamas why don't you prove it and volunteer to go on a mission for them, strap on a bomb belt for the cause, or are you all allagator mouth, and tweety bird ass?
