Somebody mentioned someone being put on 'Ignore' to me and it made me think of an interesting thread that I don't think we have ever had in Sciforums history. A thread that tells people "You can't hear them!". Currently I have 'Nobody on Ignore', But thats because I don't have to listen to your noise Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! How about the rest of you sciforumers, who are you ignoring?
I find it so absurdly easy to simply not read stuff I don't want to, that I don't even understand this. Do you also complain to your cable company about showing programs you don't like? As for what I ignore... There are a few people whose posts typically go off in directions that I don't find interesting or entertaining, and I eventually start to recognize their names and just skip over them.
Okay, let me pull out my list... Let's see... The only guy on my ignore list is Fafnir665, for his perceived holier-than-thou attitude, ageism, and apparent inability to hold a real debate in a dignified manner. I'm strongly considering putting spuriousmonkey on it as well for his patronizing, but then he makes posts worth reading every once in a while and I'm left undecided. Fafnir665: I can't hear you! I'm a fan of the ignore function. I love reading the interesting things people have to say on message boards, but there are always a few people everywhere you go that make the experience unneccesarily painful. Ultimately, the function helps categorize what I'm reading by flagging all garbage data with a label. Ignore is especially helpful when dealing with pranksters (which I haven't really seen much of here) like spammmers, and flooders, and other types that go out of their way to be annoying.
i dont put anyone on my ignore list because i dont care what people say to me. the only person who i really dont like is duendy but i dont care what she has to say to me
I only have three on ignore: MetaKron, because his posts were coagulated nonsense. Gustav, because he's a psychotic troll. Bhudda1, because it seems to be really pissing him off. It allows me to visit threads that interest me without getting unduly sidetracked into responding to the sort of trash that spews forth from the likes of above.
Wow Faf and Spurious! I don't see how either of them could possibly bother you enough to place them on ignore. I placed Spookz on ignore but I think he has since been banned.
i also have ajota on it. Must have been a spammer. I had raithere on it for a few hours, but then gustav told me that I'm a pussy or something like that for having him on ignore and my male pride forced me to take him off ignore. And then there are some no-posters on my ignore. I think they are there for a technicality. You had to have people in your ignore to take some off or whatever it was. I can't remember. It was a long time ago.
yeah I tried putting truthseekers confused ass on ignore for a while, but it didn't work. I couldn't ignore it, so I stopped using it. if I can't just ignore it while perusing the thread it won't be ignored.
