So much for winning their hearts and minds , so what happened to the US promise they would rebuild Iraq . Of course this windfall of death on the iraqis has its own rebound :
anyone could have told you that they are worse off. remember when Colin powell said that if they break it they bought it (they=administration, it=iraq). well, they broke it. and that is precisely why I didn't think it was a good idea to do to war. however, if they had thrown saddam out and had a smooth transition of governments, I would have had to eat my words. I would have rather been wrong on this one, but what are you going to do? p.s. these "look, America fucked up" threads are getting old. all of the America hating is blinding the rest of the world to the shit that is going down. Russia is trying to restart the cold war, and tensions in the middle east could turn nuclear. but no, we have to bash America and let everyone get away with everything just because they are against America to Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
even if it had turned out peaches and roses all around, brian foley would still be spending his days bashing america and it's interests. god forbid someone have an opinion other than his! maybe we should start a foley bashing trend. *waits for him to say that the liberal media made me say it*
Of course he and others would. It's to be expected when a country acts high and mighty and becomes the self-appointed "world police". If someone wants to take on such responsibility, you better be doing a pretty darned good job and not make any mistakes otherwise be prepared to accept criticism. The same applies to being President, Senator, Mayor, Govenor, a Peace Officer, or whatever else. Just because they're higher ups, we can't just say "oh they screwed up, it's alright" and forget as if nothing happened. People in those positions of power are doing delicate work and even one small screw up can lead to a crapload of problems. There's a reason why we're able to take those types of people out of those positions of power. As a wise man once said, "If you can't take the heat, get out the kitchen." - N
I keep hearing all the foot stomping and floor scuffing indignation, but I'm not inclined to consider as persuasive, let alone logically persuasive, either your information sources or your information source selection criteria. So much for whatever you imagine you are accomplishing toward changing the minds of people not already inside your philosophic/cognitive bubble.
