Thanks to technological advances throughout the years, water purification has become increasingly better. Surely, civilization has a bright future of cleaner and purer H2O.

Did you even read Raithere and Spurious' posts?

OK. Let I elaborate. I do not consider wanting purer/cleaner water and food to be in any way extremist as Raithre seems to imply. If you give me a choice between a cleaner one, and a dirtier one, I would go with the cleaner one. There is nothing neurotic or obsessive about wanting a clean place, cleaning your body, drinking the purest water you can get, eating the cleanest food you can get, and appreciating advances in cleaner and purer food and water.

How many self-proclaimed extremists do you know?
You seem to be getting caught up in terminology. What does "clean" mean? What is "dirt" ? Also you seem to think your preference of pure water is justified simply because the adjective "pure" usually has positive implications. Why do you consider naturally occuring ions to be "dirt" ? What makes them different from the vitamin C, sugars, and citric acid found in an impure water solution known as 'orange juice' ?

It's not that I'd drink raw sewage or anything, but I consider iron, calcium, and potassium ions a natural part of drinking water. Arguably, distilled water is to drinking water as ethanol is to wine.

    Irrelevant.

I have already explained what I meant in many posts. Why ask the same question over and oever?
    What is clean?
    What is pure?
Do you think you will get a different answer?

Your answers are mostly vague, unhelpful comparisons between purity and cleanliness, and an indication that we should do anything technology enables us to. I don't understand this obsession you have with distilled water, especially given the general consensus that it has negative effects on your health. There's no inherent reason for a pure substance to be better than the condition it is usually found in nature. You wouldn't live very long if you had the same attitude toward breathing pure oxygen, for instance.

No they are not vague. I will reiterate it yet again.

The cleaner/purer sometihing is, the less other stuff it has. The cleaner/purer H2O is, the less other stuff it has that is not H2O.

This is what the purification process is about. To clean out impurities for purer/cleaner H2O. Try rereading the entire thread.

But minerals are not dirt. They are important to your physical wellbeing.

Why not just drink 100% water and take a multivitamin afterwards? Perhaps a nice steak or some green beans?

The recent comments got me thinking about health joints that serve fruit smoothies that add vitamins to them. What the heck is the point? Isn't the reason why someone drinks a fruit smoothie for the benefits from the fruit? Why add vitamins on top of it? It overdoes it and makes it taste like crap.

This is the reason why Cool Skill and myself prefer purer water. We wanna drink water, not minerals. If I want minerals, I can get em elsewhere. Just as if I wanna drink a fruit smoothie, I wanna have that, not some added vitamins to make it taste worse.

Water = H2O + Minerals + organic content (bacteria and such) = natural

H20 = Highly Reactive liquid = not natural

That poses indeed an interesting problem. Apples in the US (Cool lives in the US if I am not mistaken) are often heavily coated with unnatural wax, and apples everywhere in the world are covered in pesticides, bacteria, fungus spores, bird droppinps etc.

They need to be rinsed. Or peeled. Rinsing is not going to work though. Rinsing will only remove a limited amount of contaminants. That would only eliminate part of the problem. We also need to sterilize the apple. That could be done with alcohol, or by boiling it for a long time. Both treatments will affect the taste. So those are not an option.

Peeling then. With what? A knife? You can't get a knife really clean. It's clean if you look at it, but there are still residues on it if you look closer of food debris, blood, bacteria, plastic, etc. We need to sterilize the knife first.

    Or buy sterile surgical scalpels.

    That should work.

What is cool skill going to eat anyway if he insists on pure food?

    Does he grow food himself?

    Does he eat burgers?

Does he swim in the sea?

Does he put his finger in his mouth when he eats? That has all kind of stuff on it.

    Does he kiss other people?

    It's all utterly pointless.

Not only that, the 'associative studies' show it is detrimental to your health.

What about just some common sense?

I agree. And that is just about as simple as it gets.

    Forget the worms.

Most of the apples available to the public in this 1984 distopian hellhole are chemically mutated.
If you want better organic apples, you have to go find a Whoole Food store where they sell organic produce, and pay extra for it.

I personally am stuck with eating chemically enhanced apples everyday as organic apples are over my price range.
I have a juicer machine, so I can feed my apples or whatever chemically saturated fruits and vegetable I want into it.
That way, once in awhile, I can have me a nice tall glass of ferilizer.

pure h2o? You need minerals, you either get them from food or water. Pure water washes away good minerals, undoing your food minerals slightly. Water washes stuff clean. Clean, sterile, ect may sound good at first, but really, humans are inherantly dirty. We need dirt, not sterility. KIlling off all the other germs and stuff is bad. Believe it or not, being sterilized implies death. THis ideal of cleanliness you have has that logical follow up. If clean is good, then we should all be dead, drained, sealed, covered in plastic, ect.

As others have indeed said, distilled, or the water you find in ant artica. So pure that too much would give you an instant stomach ache, because of the pure H20 absent of other nutrients. And if you want any more pure then that, then distill it, and yet more pure Morbid Dragons idea on distilling it.

travel to Mars...melt the water ice locked up in north pole and voila...that water is as pure as the soul of an innocent virgin.

Unfortunately in this backwards society, technology is not up to par for easy trips to Mars.

Or you can juice "organic" produce and have a tall glass of cow shit instead.

    1. the point is not just that the minerals are good for your body, even if they were like 'neutral' it would still do you no good to drink distilled water because your cells would explode due to osmosis. simple physics phenomenon.
    2. osmosis does not depend on how much of the solvent is there, it depends upon the concentration (that is the amount of solute dissolved). so coolskill, your bs about the the scientists forcing distilled water down the rats throats is irrelevant.
