    Well said.

Heh, case in point: Mel Gibson's latest drunk driving. People were more upset about his anti-Jewish comments than they were about him actually going around drunk driving! I guess it's okay since "everybody does it".

Man, you belong to the camp of 'Sore/Loserman', that's for sure! Robber barons and War Criminals? Bush belongs in an Iraqi Prison??

Quit being such a typical leftist Drama Queen.

Bush is gonna be gone in 2 years and it will be fun to see who you morons will be able to latch onto as the next McChimpyHaliburtonHiter. Oh wait! I bet you think Bush is gonna become some evil dictator with his evil overlord Cheney fixing it so that "there aren't any more elections", right?

    Get a grip man.

[Hate all the current byatching of Leftists who think the World is so important right now or that its gonna end just because *they* are currently living in it - - seems awfully self-aggrandizing to me!]

If you live ina Hobbesian state, where the sovereign is the state, then what you feel might be justified. In fact we live in such a state where the head is the state. What some call wrapping yourself in the flag and others call Superpatriotism, that idealization of state with dictator is common amongst third world countries, and the United States. In fact on paper we (the U.S.) have the same income distribution (measured by the gini ratio) as Latin American countries like Brazil and Mexico.

The test of your political intelligence is simple: can you seperate the leaders of the country from your patriotism? Do you identify yourself with the soldier mentality? In other words do you want to kill all Iraqi's or Afghanies or Arabs? If so then you are pretty average. Which happens to also be a very bad thing for the idealized sense of rights that superpatriots espouse.

For further information on Superpatriotism look up Michael Parenti.

What everyone seems to (like to) forget is that Bush can't really do anything without the congress backing him. Can he write laws and just "hey you congressman there sign this!"? Or do anything without tons of people offering him advice? Of course, if he was a charismatic leader he COULD just persuade people on his side, but come on. And the congressmen could hardly do anything without people watching them, too.

    Also,
1:"that's about 20% of you lot.”
2:"yeah. you have no idea how many people i have tried to explain this to in europe."

So it's supposed to be a redeeming attribute that "americans just dont give a Siht about people dying around the globe and whatever"? How is that better than "America wants to kill everything"?.

I mean if just a couple in the populance of US want to war, why are the rest "Damn, I'll write about that in my blog!"? And even if they did care, why aren't they doing anything? Too patriotic to criticize or oppose the government?

Nationalist Germany was too patriotic to oppose or question the actions of their government. That can be used as a sorta scale. I'd say "would you follow your leader if he told you "we have to rule the world since we're the best, by any means necessary"?". When would you doubt the word of the office?

When would you doubt the media? I mean the german television (around '40s) showed how right germany was and how glorious Hitler was and everything. Same goes to Commie Russia. If you lived under that tree, would you see through the media coverage?

I forgot to comment on this one. Good that the previous poster reminded me.

That 20% thing is valid in all democracies. Nobody is elected with a true majority. Well, maybe in belgium then if they still have the obligatory voting. But then again, they don't have a president.

"Only the working poor filled the ranks. Rich kids were never endangered and still aren't. I'm really glad I'm over draft age. Looks very much like we will be at war for a long time in a few places."

What a blanket statement of bull. Glad to see that you have never been in the Military yet you feel that you are qualified to make all knowing statements about it.
