i think what you guys are arguing is, that the earth must have had a starting point. And wheter God or evolution, some thign had to create god/somethign had to create evolution. But an athiest would say, the universe could just the same be created out of nothing as it would be out of somethign for the very fact that everythign starts at one point.

Evolution implies not that there was a starting point, but that complexity emerges from previous conditions.

Interesting. How then do you suppose there are organisms with differing numbers of unique chromosomes? For example, a fruit fly has 8 chromosomes and a human has 46. Where did the extra chromosomes come from? (Not that humans evolved from fruit flies, but since everything had a common ancestor, somehow the descendants of that ancestor must have increased their chromosome count.)

Monocellular organisms, which have existed since the Precambrian. These organisms later developed and became more diverse, complex, and versatile, eventually resulting in the life we see today.

I wonder how he explains that some modern birds have claws on their wings (but only in the juvenile stage).

I wonder how he explains that chickens can grow teeth (they have the genetic mechanism already in place, but it is inactivated due to inactivation of the required hormone gene to trigger the growth) if provided the missing hormone?

And, as I posted elesewhere, I wonder how he explains the recent fossil finds of gilled fish that had movable heads and front legs with bones? Found - another 'missing link' the "creationists" keep saying cannot exist and won't be found. Science says it is an example of a fish caught in an evolutionary stage of 'morphing' into an amphibian, since the fossil dates prior to the earliest known amphibians. Read the extensive post by Valich on that particular fossil find from a few months ago.

You just disproved your own argument!

This is called argument by closing your eyes, plugging your fingers in your ears, and yelling "No! Uh uh. No way!".

In other words, you're wrong on all counts:

Please show us evidence of this barrier. Where is the genetic failsafe that defines the boundaries you imagine exist?

Moses207, since you agree with creationists that matter came from nothing, does it not make more sense that an intelligence, rather than nothing, turned nothing into something? For if nothing caused something to happen to itself, it would not be nothing, but instead, it would be an entity outside of space and time, with a desire fulfilled, in making itself into matter.

And Walter, regarding syngameons, perhaps the barriers can be now determined with the advances in genome knowledge, that's what I'm talking about, study it to know what is possible, hybrid-wise, so useful hybrids could be obtained, like the old Aroch (sp? an ancient ox).

I'll be on a retarded computer for a day or two, so make your statements toward me thoughtful (no disrespect), so I can handle your crap in fewer posts.

Raithere, that read like a load of crap, so cite those alleged novel genes.

No one who is in a position to make advances in genome knowledge denies the fact of evolution.

Indeed, if evolution were not a fact, there would be no need for sex. Not all animals have sex, but those that do, do so because it provides the variation that allows evolution to improve the gene pool.

if god created the universe then God always was, but perhaps the universe always was then. Quantum events can happen without a cause.

Maybe the mental energy of all the humans on the planet collects in one point in the center of the Earth through gravity and becomes conscious due to a positive feedback loop with the magnetosphere, which oscillates diurnally when half the world dreams, and this causes a form of metabolism that can be seen as the northern lights.
