    How to wash a cat?

    With lukewarm water and shampoo.

In a sink preferably. Most of them love it.

Cats can be cleaned by using ones tongue. I myself have often licked them until they meow in agony, they seem to like this method of removing parasites + infections more than any other I've encountered.

Some cats are fine with water. I've had cats which would jump into showers.

We bathed our cats regularly. None of them minded any more than our dogs do now and one was quite placid about it. The trick with any animal is to get them used to it when they're young.

But why,oh why? Do they smell bad? My cat smells good all the time. I washed her once in 6 years, when she got rusty in the basement.

Unless they get visually dirty, why would you wash a cat?

I have an outdoors cat and during the summer he gets burrs, dirt, stuff etc stuck in his fur. It got so bad one year that his fur, mostly along the line of his back, got matted and hard and he was too fat I think to twist and reach to lick himself clean so the vet had to shave a bit of fur off to get it manageable again hehe. Now, if he gets very dirty, (ie, the creamy white of his fur doesn't look so pristine, more like an almond brown color), we give him a nice shampoo. Not very often though, he has a bad habit of biting his skin afterwards. I think he might be allergic to something, or just hate having the natural oils of his fur washed off. So this bathing ritual doesn't happen oftne, mostly during the summer, or after winter storms when all that crap gets thrown on the road and he rubs himself in it.

Be sure to use pet shampoo, not human shampoo. That could be his problem. You can get shampoo for animals that are sensitive to it.

Now if only we could figure out how to boil the cat in 30 seconds or less...

I dont quite get it either. Cats usually take care of themselves, so unless they are infested or something, whats does washing it accomplish?

Attach a breathing equipment and throw it to the washing machine.

it makes my cat feel better when I put a piece of carpet inside the tub, so he has something to grab at the bottom and doesnt just scatch against the slippery bottom

...and again, why do you have to wash the cat?

You know, if you have fish, you can get them out shine them... They look better after that...

because although it is rare to be infected by a cat, they do lick their assholes and then lick the rest of their bodies... they do it all the time. do fish do that? think about that next time you stroke that lovely fur.

    also, they're crawling with these
