p.s. by the way thread closed no point raised, a one liner opening thread subject is pathetic, where is the locksmith with his padlock.

I think so long as they aren't endangered, it's okay. Unfortunately, they seem to be endangered, so it's not okay.

If they're killing it for food, why dont they kill it quickly straight away? Whats the point in dragging it around by truck?

Vincent, how can you say thats not sick? You can't expect the thread to be closed because you own personal beliefs are attacked.

Have you watched it? They were still alive while they were being cut up. It's fucking sick.

It's not like the Japanese people do it for tradition, or are actually "fishing", they use sonar to fuck them up, thats pretty low.

If they aren't endangered already, they soon will be.

That is fuckin sad. Dolphins are very intelligent creatures and to be so brutal to them is appalling!
Did you see when that cut cut into the dolphins throat and just watched it thrash and bleed to death? Fuckin horrible, that shit makes me sick.

the question is are they intelligent enough, so that we have no right to kill/eat them?

Look mate i cant stand watching japanese sadists killing dolphins or whales, i love both of these species & it makes me sick watching these idiots, i have seen it many times on the news, to many.

It really is up to the japanese public & government to wake up to this, if there was no demand by the public for this food, there would be no more of it.
If the jap government finally woke up they could stop it to.

As for sharks, i find them a pain in the arse, i like swimming, i dont like it when i am constantly looking for these man eaters, they belong in the dinosaur age.

I love all wildlife apart from sharks...............

So what your saying is we should eat & kill anything that is dumber than us, it seems to me where the dumbest species out there, where the ones destroying the planet not them.
So any culling should start with us.

I didn't look at the visuals for obvious reasons so I don't have the whole story. But in the past Japanese fishermen have gone on dolphin-killing rampages because the dolphins compete with them for fish, which is kinda their only source of food and they don't have much choice. I have never seen any reliable reports that they eat dolphin meat, but they're pretty adventurous with their diet so I wouldn't be surprised.

Yes, they consider whale meat a delicacy.

The Japanese have an abominably bad environmental footprint. But then so do we Americans. It's hard for us to get too righteously indignant about this when our people are driving around in trucks camouflaged as station wagons for Klingons. The fact that deer are now a nuisance in many northeastern American cities is testimony to our extermination of the entire predatory link in the food chain.

look we obviously need fish and meat to survive and function normally...until we can get illusionary food that look and taste like meat and fish but really are something we biochemically made.

my lady asked me "Will i see a deer when we move to Michigan?"

i laughed. deer walk into cities in michigan, in broad daylight. over 100,000 of them are killed per year, and if they werent, they would be starving to death in our streets, picking through trash cans.

its sick, actually....a choice between starvation and being murdered in your backyard..what would a person choose?

They do that to cows and other livestock every single day.

The main difference is that cows are not endangered. Nor are cows as intelligent as dolphins.

You're right, but his post was referring to the brutality of the act. I was pointing out that such a thing is commonplace nowadays, happening in plenty of places in the US. And I should have tacked on "Does lack of intelligence excuse brutality?"
