Doesn't Hillary set off alarm bells in other people's heads? My mom is in love with the woman, but I just get this vibe that she is too self-serving to be trusted. Her biographies have not been very good at dispelling that concern, either.

What if white man continues to exploit blacks and trying to prevent them from getting ahead? Isn't that why Martin Luther King Jr died?

The only thing I like about Hillary is that she is a woman.

So can we expect you to leave the Country once she's elected President?

That's what you Conservatives told us to do instead of complaining about Bush.

Alec Baldwin and a few others promised to leave the country if Bush was elected.

It seems some white people can never be happy with African-Americans' progress.

Exploit blacks? Are you kidding? Everyone here has the same rights and opportunities. No one can blame whitey anymore. That was a sad old victim mentality comment.

The whiny-@ss liberals were the ones who said they would leave the country if Bush was elected. They didn't. So we elected him AGAIN and they STILL won't leave. We're thinking about running Jeb so they would have a third opportunity
and we could get our country back.

Okay, the grammer was fine. I'm sorry if I had a few run-ons and maybe the occasional missing apostrophe. My grammer isn't that bad. Look, you forgot to put spaces between your ellipses. You used 2 exclamation marks at the end of your sentence. Is muthafucker spelled right? Did you know that 2 spaces at the end of a sentence is no longer required since it is built into word processors and applets? I'm not complaining, I'm just pointing out that your complaints are partly hippocritical as your grammer isn't absolutly perfect. I've never had anyone but my english teacher complain about my grammer, and I still got an A in AP english. You have the nerve to call me egotistical and then pretend that you are superior because you follow the english rulebook more closly then me.

By the way, not all opinions are equal. What makes mine more valuable then other posters? First, I presented a somewhat fresh perspective that wasn't being heard in the 10 pages or so of repititous propaganda. Go back and look how many times Obama's middle name is brought up. Now look at how many people pointed out that the pledge of allegiance is forcing beliefs on people? Fresh food tastes better then McDonalds. Second, I can back up my opinion with logic, not scripture. I thought a bit before merely posting the party line. Third, my post had less logical falacies then many of the other posts because I thought it through. If you honestly thought that these ten pages were filled with insightful and quality opinions you are sadly mistaken. I spent a whole hour reading through and regretted it.

In 2003, African American men were 2.4 times as likely to die from prostate cancer, as compared to non-Hispanic white men.
African American adults were 2.1 times more likely than non-Hispanic white adults to have been diagnosed with diabetes by a physician.
In 2004, African Americans aged 65 and older were 30% less likely to have received the influenza (flu) shot in the past 12 months, compared to non-Hispanic whites of the same age group.
In 2003, African Americans had 2.4 times the infant mortality rate of non-Hispanic whites.
African American males were 50% more likely to die from a stroke than their White adult counterparts.

While the numbers can't tell us why, they certainly can tell us that there still exists racial inequality here in the US. I'd certainly say that considering it's only been 52 years since African American citizens gained equality in voting, and even less since gaining equality in everyday life, I'm not at all surprised that a gap still remains. Hells yeah, it's better, and overall there no longer remain institutional barriers to African (or Native) Americans; but to remain ignorant to what unofficial restrictions still exist helps no one.

My college years (1997-2001) were in a very racist area, and as someone who did not grow up in that kind of atmostphere, it was very difficult for me to live with. And I'm white.

The problem of racism in this country is far from gone. It gets better daily. But it isn't gone.

edit: I did some additional math:
% of US groups aged 15 and up with a bachelor's degree in 2006:
    White - 16% (31 mill/190 mill)
    African American - 10% (3 mill/28 mill)
    Asian - 27% (2.8 mill/ 10 mill)
    Hispanic - 7% (2 mill/30 mill)

Very promising numbers, historically compared. Still got some work to do, but certainly better.
