For Music, I use Windows Media player because the library is so easy to use. For video I use The Core Media Player, which has every single file format imaginable supported.

media player classic, real player alternative, and quicktime.
i've also have installed power DVD, divx, and flv player.

i use the first three the most.
i use power DVD to watch purchased movies.
i've used FLV and DIVX very rarely.

    Ouch...

I use Winamp for everything. DivX player is my favorite to play videos on websites, mostly because of the feature that automatically darkens the rest of the screen around the movie until you move the mouse.

Winamp for music. VLC for most vids. Media Player for porn.

I hate realplayer. I got the realAlternative thing, but it uses media player classic. I barely have to use it, thankfully. And sodding quicktime for .mov's.

For windows, I use windows media player 11 (mostly for connecting to my windows media stream whenever I want to stream my TV over the network, and watch from my hammock in the back yard)

when I'm on linux, I'll either use totem, or xmms, or Banshee, or mplayer, or amarok (whatever I'm in the mood to fool with at the moment).

I'd say mplayer is the best because it seems to do everything

BS Player, Media Player Classic (for DVDs) and FLV player.

    Winamp for MP3s.

me too. it's a bloated piece of spyware, just like media player (not classic)
media player classic is an ace player. if you have zone alarm firewall then you will notice that realplayer and media player both will try to access the trusted zone. this doesn't happen with real player alternative and media player classic.

  16. Typically, I us Noatun under Ubuntu Linux. Sound is awesome, and highly customizable. Light on resources, too. And being hackled as much as I am, they have a great deal of difficulty jamming it.
    It's a nice little program.

Windows Media Player 11. It cracks copy protected CD's. How cool is that?

I have Windows Media Centre which looks pretty, but I only use that for watching TV on my laptop.

VLC actually plays .mov's; I haven't installed Quicktime since I built my new PC in March.

I have found that GOM Player is better than VLC and VLC was hard to beat.

    Re: Real Player

I was being facetious. I use MPC and MusicMatch (because I'm hooked to its tagging feature). I use WMP to rip CDs because MM doesn't want to recognize my external drive.

I go with what ever is needed based upon the media's codec's.
