I wanted to do this to remind people just what the Republicans who have been in office recently stand for. I think that if most Americans know what the Republicans stand for, as shown by their actions, and not what they say, then we will see a landslide Democratic victory next year for President, the House and the Senate. Then, when they get power, we can watch them and see what they stand for, good or bad, by their actions and not what they say. If it's bad too, then we will know that we have to make some major changes in this country.

Anyway: REPUBLICAN ABUSES (from 2001 to 2007) [from my point of view and only in bullet form because there are so many]

    1. NSA Spy Program on Americans without FISA Warrants.
    2. Suspension of Habeas Corpus for Prisoners of War ("enemy combatants").
    3. FBI Abuses of Patriot Act (100's of cases of illegal spying).
    4. Endorsing or allowing the use of Torture.
    5. Extraordinary Rendition (flying suspects to countries that allow torture).
    6. Lack of any Federal response to Hurrican Katrina and continuing abuses today.
    7. VP Cheney's Energy Commission (letting people like Kenneth Lay from Enron set America's energy policy).
    8. Doctoring scientific reports (lying) about Global Warming and many other scientific matters.
    9. Changes in Bankruptcy Laws to make it harder for individuals to get relief.
    10. Changes in Tort Laws making it harder for individuals to get justice when wronged.
    11. Exorbitant tax cuts for the rich and for corporations. Only minor tax cuts for everyone else.
    12. Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal and influence of lobbying (big money) in Republican-controlled Congress.
    13. Lies about WMD's in Iraq and attempts to hide the facts.
    14. Conspiring to OUT Valerie Plame at the CIA in order to discredit husband Joe Wilson's calling Bush and Cheney on their lies about WMD's.
    15. OUTING Valerie Plame and then lying about it.
    16. Bush lying about firing anyone in his administration that was involved in the outing.
    17. Have you made it this far? If so, fill in the blank.
    18. Record profits for OIL companies (Bush puppet-masters) and then denying price gouging on gas prices.
    19. Firing 8 of his appointed U.S. Attorneys and then covering up why he fired them.
    20. Covering up and invoking executive priviledge for any and everything.
    21. Not allowing Medicare/Medicaid to bargain for lower drug prices for Seniors in the Prescription Drug Bill.
    22. The Page Sex Scandal by Mark Foley, Republican from Florida.
    23. Commutation of "Scooter" Libby's prison sentence prematurely.
    24. Tom Delay (Republican from Texas)("The Hammer") and his Illegal financial practices.
    25. George Allen (Republican from VA) and his racist remarks.
    26. No-bid contracts for Halliburton and other large corporations.
    27. Passing a law in 2002 that prevents federal employees from being sued civillily for their actions in office.

I know their are many, many more abuses that I haven't listed, because I am out of time.

Please, if you think of others, or want to mention the ones that piss you off the most, go ahead.

This is what REPUBLICANS stand for. By their actions. Forget what they say, they are usually lying.

Dick Cheney working with Gordon Smith to contribute to the largest kill of adult salmon in US history by diverting water for farmers in Oregon, in an attempt to get Smith re-elected.

The office of Faith Based Initiatives, violating separation of church and state, disproportionally benefits Christian organizations.

    Special legislation for Terry Schiavo.

Anything bad done has already gone past my tolerance point where I quit keeping tabs since nobody cares or wants anything to be done about it. I'll try and make a post later tonite. Outta be amusing after a few beers.

Good ones, spidergoat. With regard to the Schiavo case, people like Bill Frist and Trent Lott lying like they did is what upset me the most.

Like Neildo said, there are so many that it's hard to remember all of them.

Here's a recent one: FEMA's toxic mobile homes given to survivors of Hurricane Katrina and doing no testing to check claims that Formaldehyde levels in the trailers were up 75 times the legal max allowed by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Agency). From CBS News: "Documents revealed that FEMA officials and attorneys "consistently rejected" repeated calls for testing from its own field staff because they would "imply FEMA's ownership of the issue," reported Keteyian. " Absolutely disgusting.

Voter "caging" lists excluding overwhelmingly Democratic voters.

Fake protestors in the 2000 Florida voting debacle.

    Supreme Court selected president.

Here's one I heard about this morning on C-SPAN:

Over the last several years, Congress has paid $1.1 Billion to over 170,000 DEAD Farmers in farm subsidies. I could understand if it was just a few farmers (mistakes can be made), but 170,000 dead farmers is unbelievable and suspicious. Almost as suspicious as the $10 billion/month spent in Iraq for the war.

So the revolution needs to wait ... what, until January, 2010? Maybe if we actually declare a date, offer folks punch and pie, or something, they'll turn out.

I think about revolution (violent revolution) a lot nowadays. Maybe I'm off my rocker, maybe not. I don't think so, but that's probably not for me to make the final determination on. It is true that I don't care much anymore about what happens to me, and I do almost welcome what I think of as the peace of death over continued life in the U.S.A., but I don't think I'm off my rocker.

That said, when (if ever) is it okay to entertain the idea of violent overthrow of our government? Treason, you might say? Sure, to those in power. What about to those who have almost NO power? Would they listen to me and others like me? Probably. Should I be talking about revolution? I don't know, but apparently a part of me feels like I should.

Call me a nut-job, but I really liked the ideas presented in the movie "V for Vendetta," with Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving (the bad-ass bad guy in "The Matrix"), Stephen Rea and John Hurt. A quote from the movie: "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." If you haven't seen it, please do. It's inspiring and gave me a hope that I haven't had in a lot of years.

    --------------------------

    Now, more Republican abuses.

When Ashcroft took office as Attorney General, 75 existing investigations (begun during Clinton's Administration) into wrongdoings by coal-burning power plants (for their not meeting pollution standards) were summarily dismissed. All of them. Republicans are living in the dark ages with regard to global warming.

Another one. Republicans like to call liberals "tax and spend" liberals. With regard to spending, Republicans and Bush spent more, and increased the nation's debt more, in their time in power than ALL other presidents and congress' before them combined. Maybe we should call Republicans the "cut taxes and borrow" party.

You wouldn't know it by watching CNN or Fox Noise, but Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has now officially been caught LYING to the U.S. Congress and the American people. Two days ago, he told the Senate Judiciary Committee that during a 2004 meeting with 8 members of the Senate and House regarding intelligence matters that the meeting was not about the NSA Warrantless Spying Program on Americans. Yesterday, a document surfaced from John Negroponte (then Director of National Intelligence (you know, the new intelligence czar appointed by Bush and put in charge of all branches of our intelligence services including the CIA, FBI, NSA, etc.)) stating that this briefing to the 8 members of Congress in 2004 by Gonzales and others was about the NSA Warrantless Spying Program on Americans.

Do we want a liar as Attorney General of the U.S.A? Apparently Bush and many Republicans do.

Yeah, we want a good, sound, Attourneys General like Janet Reno or Ramsey Clark (as in, the guy who defended--both publicly and in the courts of law-- Radovan Karadžić, Slobodan Milošević, & Saddam Hussein).

So, we finally agree on something string. No more shitty attorneys general. Republican or Democrat. Oh, and who represented Mark Rich in his pardon process at the end of Clinton's administration? "Scooter" Libby? Yeah, that's the ticket....
