July 1, 2002: Is OBL still alive?

Just wondering about the opinions of a few. (I don't know if someone already posted this before but oh well..)

My take is that just because he's not talked as much or doesn't matter anymore as far as the War on Terrorism goes, it doesn't mean that he's dead.

I think he's still alive, but that doesn't mean he is.

(and there is a difference between thinking he is dead and wanting him dead)

OBL is most likely alive and well. He has pulled the lid over himself as he went into the hole to dissappear. He knows at present if he were to show himself that the hunt would intensify. That every thing in a message would be dissected to try and locate where he is at. He will stay in hiding till the search slacks up or moves away. He has found that even a government can not protect him indefinately. Now other governments, that would have favored him with protection, will not do so openly. He hides until the pressure slacks up. I doubt anyone has come so close to him or been so effective in eliminating parts of his organization as the lastest bout has been. So he bides his time and hides until it is time to come back out and fire another round of terrorism.

Blood is thicker than water. He can easily go back to Saudi and hide within his mega-family. Another location could be where his mega-family does business.

If drug dealers do business with impunity, terrorists cant be far behind. Same business practice. Police only catch the dumb foot soldiers....right? like Richard the shoe bomber?

bin laden is totally alive, america will not be able to catch him, its like finding a needle in a hay stack, to find one person on the planet, pretty big task if you ask me.

*edit - correct spelling and punctuation.

Too bad he does not have an overdue student loan.
Those jackals would find him within twenty-four hours!

    Peace.

OR bounty hunters for dead beat Dads....

I was involved in a IT project for Alabama State Government. Man, that database was full. The state spent 3 times more money to collect a few dollars from these dead beats....talk about our tax dollars at work...but they found them....

I'm surprised one of his own followers hasn't betrayed him yet.

Either that, or he's really dead and his followers are also nowhere to be found or fearing for their own lives if they even try to tip him off. Imagine being one of the Al-Qaeda...would you betray your network for the reward money?

I think he is dead but it is only a hunch. The reason is I think he would have released a video by now, flaunting the fact that he is alive if that were the case. He could be holding out, but he seems like the person that would revel in showing the world that the US hasn't gotten him.

India has released information that an intelligence source has revealed that Osama Bin Laden i hiding in Pakistan and is quite alive. They dont know if the Pakistani government know about it they just say that thats where he is.

yeah captain there are is a lot of un-intelligence floating
around on his possible location, he was also seen in the
border regions of Georgia, the Iraqi marshes, at the end
of a CIA hellfire flightpath and ofcourse under a thousand
    tons of Tora Bora marble.

I dont see the Indians having the access or technology
to locate OBL when every spy sat and listening post in
the real world has failed to pick up credible info ...

yeah ...most likely he's a bit out of the loop with severe hearing damage from those daisy cutters ... they are probably looking for a new bogeyman to head the alqaeda ... sort of clean up their image within the arab world.

    Random thoughts

Horseback? Traveling at night? I picked those two theories up from, I think, a CNN.com article today.

But from the first OBL-is-dead speculations, I found it amusing how silly the US government was being.

We thought he was dead because we had some people we thought were his guards. We thought he was dead because we hadn't heard from him directly or through intelligence circles.

Horseback? I could have guessed that. But my original guess was that we hadn't heard from OBL because he was planning. Well, say some, wouldn't we hear of his plans?

No. He's got the rest of his short life to fight this war. There are generations ready to replace him. He can afford to take his time. I wouldn't be surprised when we look back at the situation with a few decades' perspective on it, if OBL was sending his communiques overland, on foot, via paper or memorized instructions. We won't hear from him over telephone lines, we won't hear from him through the internet. We will hear from him again, though.

He will take his time. He would rather get it right than meet a self-imposed deadline for when the next action should occur.

    thanx,
    Tiassa

i agree it gets pretty silly with the "we got him" theories - you missed the one where a cia missile hit a "very tall man" in eastern afganistan - viola must be OBL !!

yes and OBL will get live on as long as there is situation of conflict in the ME... it goes way beyond OBL though ...he lacks the sophistication to be a real leader of the opressed ... what the world need to look out for is when someone who gets it starts getting eloquent and logical about these imbalances .. then you might be motivating a billion rather than a throusand followers ...

    gangadeen ...

"...he lacks the sophistication to be a real leader of the opressed ..."

Interesting comment in light of the fact that although he has a 'price' on
his head, $25 mil. I believe, no one in that dirt-poor part of the world
has decided to pick up some pocket change.

    Take care

OBL is a figment of dubya's imagination. He conjured him up to try & boost his ratings.

    just a weird theory...

He cuts off his beard. Gets some forged doc's with a new id. Gets on a plane to canda or mexico. Then crosses the border into the US. Nobody would ever find him.

p.s. i don't actually believe that but it is possible and would probaly work.
