It appears that mitochondria...the once bacteria and now an essential powerhouse of the cell refuse to go into Apoptosis and activate an efficient energy saving mechanism of NAD+ production when cells are not over nourished. And this is the reason why people who eat a bit of food live longer. I wouldnt mess with apoptosis, mostly when mitochondria is damaged/not working, cells cant go into apoptosis and with few other mutations you have a cancer cell.
