i'll give you that the interaction between consciousness and the emotions mediated by all those reactions happening in our bodies at the same time, produce an effect that a computer would not be able to understand (or would they, if the variables were places acordingly?)... but from that to a soul, it's a huge jump

How are the atoms in a human different from the atoms in a computer? Chemists have enumerated all commonly occuring atoms - we know their protons, electrons, neutrons, mass, negativity, lattice forming properties etc . . . And by all these criteria, the Carbon in a log looks no different to the Carbon in your cells, save the pattern it's placed in.

they are not different, but a computer and a human are created differently. you can't physically try to combine some atoms and think they will become a receiver of divine consciousness! the creation of a human starts already in the spiritual world, and the spirit goes into the physical body which the spirit creates. in a computer, the only spirits are those atomic spirits, but the computer itself doesn't have a spirit no more than a rock.

but just like a machine can receive radio signals, maybe they can receive divine consciousness spirit things in the future when machines become really advanced<+???+2!??!?!

yorda, if you're going to continue talking about "divine" and "spiritual world", you are not contributing to the discussion... we are passed that

what are you basing on to say that the creation of a man starts in the spiritual world? what is the spiritual world? what are "atomic spirits"?

you can just say stuff like that and offer no logical basis for it

For the sake of the discussion, I was going to ask whether an ant has feelings, or a worm, or a sponge, or a bacteria, or a virus; but now that I've seen you claim that electrons have emotions and that they are happy to work in the computers, you can disregard my question. It is open for others to discuss though.
At what point does a living organism cease to be just a machine running a genetic program, and becomes the least bit intelligent? What else could it arise from than the sufficient complexity of the genetic program it is running? Are the environmental interactions modifying the raw code and contributing to it so much that a computer program couldn't simulate it closely enough? What proof do we have, and could we possibly ever obtain any, that we ourselves are not a running computer program lacking any other input than our own starting code? Would it make any difference at all? Would it prove that we are not intelligent? If it wouldn't rule out intelligence, could our computer programs possibly reach intelligence as well?

This article contains some interesting ideas as well, mainly in the form of parallels between the network of computers and the neurons in organic brains, rather than a single computer program becoming intelligent.

The key to self programming machines is evolution...self programming machines must have an ability to change and adapt based on that change, based on the exemplary problems/obstacles the machine is given to find conditions which best show exemplary actions from the machines based on new problems/obstacles it is fed with. That means that the way machine can self program itself depends on its ability to be given free will...illusionary free will...we dont want the machine pulling a gun on people.

Let us study the evolution of the brain of a human child up to the adult...evolution of thought of a human can be applied to a machine. The brain of a human can be compared to the brain of a machine.

Focus on: Evolution of Mind, rise of consciousness.

Is consciousness a product of epi-phenomenon?
