Thinking of applying for James Randi's Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge? Here are some tips, mostly on what not to do. Read the full article at Wired 10 Tips For Dealing With James Randi: Claim Your Million Today! By Rob Beschizza, October 26, 2007 ...In this latest funhouse, Michael Fremer, audiophile and Stereophile editor, accepted a challenge, with the backing of Pear Cables, to prove that the firm's $7,000 leads are better than standard-fare one can pick up at Best Buy. It's not gone well for the challengers, with Pear backing out and Fremer frustrated by the all-too-public negotiations between Randi and himself. Don't let it happen to you. Whether you're psychic or merely a subjectivist in matters of science, here are 10 tips for dealing with Randi and claiming your dough. • Don't claim the prize doesn't exist. • Don't ridicule Randi. • Don't claim the testing will be rigged. • Don't lose your temper. • Don't forget what you're getting yourself into: boring, exhaustive testing by people who think you're full of shit. • Don't bother trying to work the protocol in your favor, with plans to back out honorably if the testing scenario isn't to your taste. • Don't start what you can't finish. • Don't forget the failures of those that have gone before. • Don't come flying out of obscurity expecting to get a shot at the lucre. • Do have paranormal powers.
If you are really psychic, you could win the power ball once in 3 years (just to keep it quiet) and call it a day...if you can influence slot machines with telekinesis...etc....Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
And now, I predict that Spud Emperor will post something. (What are you saying spirit guides? What's that? ) Not today, but tomorrow. (What's that ,psychic spirit cat? Oh.... not Spud Emperor, Nik something....)
The prize doesnt exist, that moron Randi just rigs the tests, I fucking hate his guts Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!. Anyway its so dull, its probably not worth it in the end. Its probably good for a laugh, but I doubt the fakers who tried beforehand enjoyed themselves. Its just a publicity stunt, real people with paranormal powers like me just get ignored by him.
It has been demonstrated that the money does exist. The tests are agreed upon by the applicant before the actual day so the tests are fair. Randi isn't even at many of the tests nowadays. Of course you have no evidence that anyone is rigging the tests, you just know that this must be true. $1 000 000 is not worth it? You must be really rich already. What paranormal powers do you have? Are you able to demonstrate them?
The Prize exists, but it is just sitting in the smug bearded ones bank account gaining interest. No-one will ever win it.
Hah, well if it was sarcasm I did completely miss it. I have seen many similar posts on sciforums that were completely serious.
the funny thing is... Randi is going to prove it himself and claim his own prize. puzzled...? hmmmm I bet
A really clever psychic, smart arse such as my self will do things so that others prove the reality of psychic phenonema rather than prove it himself. Why confront the skeptic directly? Instead it is by far better that the skeptic find out for himself. IMO So in this case Randi is going to prove it along with a whole lot of other people. hmmmmmm.....shhhh did I just write that....Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I am not puzzled...If Randy claims his prize, he may have to pay taxes....on money he has already paid taxes....he is not that stupid....Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I wish it were true. I would like there to be evidence of the paranormal but there isn't. All the people who claim to know the future, read minds, etc are self deluded or outright fakes. Some of them are very kind, well meaning people unlike Randi who is a smug little s***. I am still willing to be convinced but whenever I see top mediums exhibiting their talents they are always using hot or cold reading techniques. Does anyone know of any that are different.
Human beings deep seated need for paranormal (is this all there is?)manifests itself in religion and associated paranormal fakery. Even if we learn to invent Stargate and see otherworlds with blue people, we still would be searching....
