Often when I'm trying to sleep and I have my eyes closed, everything feels so big, or in some cases small, and I "see" what I feel, like a shadow, just many times larger. I can't get to sleep when its like this, I asked other people and sp far the same happens only to my mom, she has no idea what it is though. Any doctors here? Or someone else who this happens to too, it would make me feel better.
Yes i've had it happen - usually when I'm sick or drunk. You think about something or someone and the shape(their head or body or something) - the image, hard to explain is distorted - really big or really small. Like you are viewing a funhouse mirror in your own mind. Truely odd and I thought it was just me. Thanks for the post.
I had a similar problem when I was allot younger and the solution was to keep a light on in my room, not a bright light but a low level light just so that I could see around the room to tell what things were.
No, its not like things are moving, or I see faces, what I phisically feel, like my body laying aginst my bed I 'see' when my eyes are closed. When I touch my ear, its bigger in my head than it really is.
I don't know what you are experiencing, is it only when you are trying to sleep and have no other effects in daily life? I'm not a doctor, just curious.
When I was younger I had something like this. Falling asleep, I would passively visualize a morphing shape that 'felt' as if it were very large or very small (and would transition between the two). Sometimes it would be associated to an actual object, other times it would be just a complex 3d shape--possibly something associated to a sound or an idea. I kind of liked it and I would try to change the shape in different ways. But it was never anything more describable than that. Too weird.
