For those that heard about McCain apologizing for the way a radio host speaker at his event talked of Obama, now the Limbaugh wannabe has turned on him. "McCain threw me under the bus!", Cunningham said. Awww. Cunningham is now endorsing Hillary.

I was glad McCain apologized, it was a cool thing to do. And hopefully it will turn into a backlash among the Republicans. McCain just repudiated the wing of his party that likes to say "Barrack Hussein Obama"! That's like... lots of them...

    John McCain: The lobbyists' friend

    Source: Washington Post
    Link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/21/AR2008022101131.html
Title: "The Anti-Lobbyist, Advised by Lobbyists", by Michael D. Shear and Jeffrey H. Birnbaum
    Date: February 22, 2008

While the New York Times may have blown its chance trying to make it about unsubstantiated rumors, the Washington Post's Shear and Birnbaum took up the substantial issue of McCain's integrity.

While it will be hard for the candidates to make arguments about lobbyists, per se, McCain's integrity suffers dangerous exposure here. The dangerous question is whether the public will respond as well to GOP liars as they did in 2004. It was barely enough to hold the office for Dubya, and it's unclear whether the people will give their nod to Swift Boating, a Zell Miller spitwad, or other such dishonesty. With McCain's "straight talk" shown to be not so straight, the challenges continue to line up in front of him.

It's going to be a tough run to November.

It's simply the smart thing to do. Now that he's got the nomination locked, he can stop pandering to the right wing and focus on the middle.

To get to the middle of the actual electorate, he would have to get left and libertarian of Clinton and Obama.

What he has to do now that he has the nomination locked up (presuming his lobbyist troubles don't actually land him in court, and off the ticket) is conceal his complicity and conjoinment with the far right authoritarian fringe currently in power.

Bush? McCain hates him. The two have never gotten along, and they disagree about quite a bit...

I have a bad feeling Republicans are going to have a bad case of buyers remorse by the time the convention hits.

Well, thank you for posting some of the bogus hit-job the leftist run New York times tried to pull and has completely shaken the credibility even among liberals to the ground. Now I'd like you to substantiate your claims of Mccain being a "GOP liar" or your last paragrapgh should be deleted.

Look, it may be juvenile to make fun of someone's middle name; but it's beyond absurd to be all up in arms about someone using your middle name. It's his fuckin' name! It's not like he called him Baraq Hussain Osama or Sadamn Hussain Obama!

Regarding McCain, anyone hear about the argument he's not a "natural born" American because he was born in the canal zone in Panama? Given that he was born there because his parents were serving in the military, I'm pretty sure that arguments a non-starter. But, we'll see.

Emphasis mine. We've been hearing way too much of "I don't recall" these past couple of years. The article cites it's sources in the link.

Do you really believe there's no agenda at work when certain people specifically make sure to include Obama's middle name?

I'm pretty sure it's a dead-in-the-water argument, but here's something interesting that came out of it:

There might not have ever been much of a controversy over the issue, but one senator has taken steps to ensure that McCain will indeed be eligible. And no, the senator in question isn't a Republican trying to ensure the health of the party -- it's Missouri Democrat Claire McCaskill, a prominent backer of Barack Obama. McCaskill has introduced the "Children of Military Families Natural Born Citizen Act" into the Senate. McCaskill's legislation, which she wrote by hand on a notepad after reading the Times article, specifies a new part of the definition of "natural born citizen," which, if the bill passes, would include "any person born to any citizen of the United States while serving in the active or reserve components of the United States Armed Forces."

Obama himself is now cosponsoring the bill.

Sure, the agenda is making Obama's heritage clear to the electorate at a time when Muslims aren't too popular. It may be a low blow, but a man's name simply can not be "out of bounds". It is his name. It is his heritage. If he's embarassed by his name, or wishes to repudiate that half of his family, he should say so or change his name.

Did Arnold Schwarzenegger change his name or try to cover it up when he became an actor? No. He embraced it. He figured that name would make him stand out.

Obama should do the same thing. His middle name shouldn't be some taboo subject no one can talk about.

Ah, I completely agree with you. I was under the [mistaken] impression that you didn't think it was a purposeful tactic.

Depends on the context. I have no problem with normal use of his middle name.

We all know why he was including the middle name, and it was for disgusting purposes.

Either it's a lie, or he's not as competent as he pretends to be. "Not remembering" is what politicians say so they don't get in trouble for denying something that later turns out to be true.
