So, i decided to buy this on Saturday, and my young 8yr old child has finished it already! (on Medium)

We even downloaded some songs to make the game longer!

Has anyone else here finsihed it, and also who thinks that games are just getting shorter and shorter?

Halo 3 was short, has was, Half life. Resistance fall of man, Army of Two, is it just me or, are games getting shorter? and why are the people who make them getting lazy and are just out for the mone, or is it because they're getting easier and are seeming shorter?

If he can do it on hard or expert you should probably buy the kid a guitar.

EDIT: copy and pasted to the more relevant thread.

Real guitar is very different. It (GH) helps with timing more than anything.

Go to Walmart and buy the guitar/amp combo. (around $180). The guitar is as good as any guitar $300 or less in a music store. It's actually a good guitar. Comes with electronic tuner, all the accessories and lesssons, etc. We bought one for our 11 year old nephew and he's in heaven. There are many websites with free lessons, chords, tabs, etc. to challenge anyskill level.

slight problem with that, i dont live near a walmart, i live in the UK, but i have seen a guitar and amp combo for about £200 i dont want to spend to much just in case he doesnt like doing it properly, but i also want him to have a decent guitar so it will sound good!

Indeed, however it's also an adequate finger exercise for chords, and encourages speed along the frets for solo's. It's pretty useful for beginners on the harder levels.

It's good he has musical interests like that, it's a lifelong talent. Can he read musical notation too? I presume he's still relatively a beginner? If he plays he should find guitar hero's pretty easy, although it's still fun and I imagine he finds it satisfying playing his fav tunes.

Is it an acoustic he plays or electric by the way?

dont do it!guitar amp combos are overpriced.

yes he can read notations, but he is still learning, i want to nurse this interest in him because i think it will be good for him, my dayghter and myself we drum, my oldest boy sings, my husband plays the keybaord, and i think music is a good way for a child to relax,

oh and yes it is electric

Im prettty hot on Guitar Hero, i have every song 5* on expert which im pretty pleased with, plus 35 100%s which isnt so great. Also there are many reasons why the lrn2playtehraelguitar argument fails which i will not delve into, Needless to say anyone who tells me to play the instrument rather than video gets a swift fuck off.
If you need any tips or shizz just ask

yeah it is long, GH1 was 47 songs long with no downloadable content, this is 70 songs long, plus DLC. Also just incase you didnt know, once you have finished career go into to quickplay and there will be some songs you cant get on career they are pretty cool

yeah, I have it. I got it for Christmas, I was so happy when I unwrapped that box! I almost can't wait til I have my own kids, just to see that look of joy...off that subject, the game definitely has gotten shorter. I've played the other titles once or twice at my friend's houses (I don't own either, just 3) and the only difference (besides new features, and a much improved guitar controller) is the difficulty and length. I suppose they got really lazy and just stepped up the difficulty (by about 10 notches over the past titles) and made a shorter game, thinking that since it'd take us longer to beat, we'd still be satisfied. Before, they were just adults with some money, a love for rock and games, and an idea. Now, they're just like the rest of the rich CEO's who run the game companies, step up the physics or graphics just enough to brag about it, then half ass the game. Who cares? It'll still sell millions of copies. I can't wait to see what Guitar Hero IV's like. With the current trend, it'd be 10 songs of incredibly hard difficulty with 3 new features that aren't really that great. and, btw, I beat the hard career, and can do every song on expert, except for the last tier of songs (except Cliffs of Dover, I can beat that if I get lucky) and of course, Through the Fire and Flames (although I did beat it on hard.)
