The opening post to this thread contained some the most absurd nonsense I've ever read. He sounds like a drug addict convinced his ridiculous ramblings contain some profound epiphany, when they're really just an embarrassing exhibition of how poorly his brain is operating. we grow up, tastes change favorite cartoons now: The Family Guy, Futurama out grew these: Simpsons, Pinky & the Brain, Itchy & Scratchy don't like cussing, feel its fake, on the school bus (years ago) all these black kids are calling each other "n" this & that, man, but if a white kid calls them that trouble

I like Lupe Fiasco, he's got some good lyrics that aren't just about how much bling and hoes he's got. That's why I liked Tupac's stuff too. Most of the 'mainstream rap' is garbage, but that's true in just about any genre.
Lupe Fiasco is more hip-hop...than rap but...I caught something of unique in his music, its this smooth jazz sensation. I might as well add him to my list. =)

Rap is something often used in hip hop, rapping is the style of vocalisation, hip hop is the music. Lupe fiasco raps in his hip hop songs. There's lots of DJ's who are hip hop musicians but don't use rap in their songs, it's more about the slow beats and sampling. Conversely sometimes people rap in pop songs and even (to the dismay of everyone) rock songs.
