As many of you might know, Greg Bernhardt started Physics Forums a few years ago with the hopes of building a science forum that might one day rival SciForums.

"this is such a great place, I can only hope mine grows to be this big and constructive.

wtg and I look forward to many good discussion to come!"

    http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?p=66058#post66058

Needless to say, SciForums has grown into something else, but at least Greg has grown his forum into what our new administration team and others here would like have seen SciForums develop.

In fact, Greg has just secured a new partnership, which should allow him to take his forum to new levels.

"I am proud and happy to announce a partnership between Physics Forums and Scientific American."

    Congratulations Greg! Well done!

Sorry Plazma, but you know what they say, 'The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft agley'

Of course, you could always use this as a shining example of forum intellect.

PF does not have a religion sub forum, comparative religion or a politics\world events.

Isn't the forum in question known for being anally uptight and boring?
Perfect, I suppose, for a magazine to attach itself to if need be. I mean, they surely wouldn't want to attach themselves to political incorrectness. But that doesn't make such a position desirable.

    ...
    Heh.
Just read the post in question.
    It's just advertising garbage.
    Funny.
I mean, I suppose it's cool for physicsforums to get more revenue from a new ad seller, but it's hardly a 'partnership'.
Sciam has its own forums, it doesn't need to recruit another.

    Heh.
    Propaganda.
    I'm chuckling.

Thanks for the props (Q)!! Both Sciforums and PF have matured into what each of their audiences needs are. PF is more strict and SF more laid back. Nice for visitors to get two great choices for both worlds. invert_nexus the deal is a bit more than just advertising, in fact I just got off the phone with the community editor over there. PF members also get 20% off subscription rates. PF and Sciam will have a great relationship in the coming future working together.

That's a gross oversimplification. That would be like asking, "Isn't sciforums little more than an AOL chatroom where any crackpot can say whatever he likes?"

PF is only boring to people who find science boring.

Ha. I thought that Greg bloke's post was a bit all-too-sensible and bridgebuildtastic.

    Out come the knives.

Yeah. Pretty standard advertising deal, yes?

    Anyway.
I don't see the point to this thread. Q can go to your forums if he likes them so much. Unfortunately, Q's not really interested in your forum other than a nifty way of insulting these forums. The forums that he chooses to dwell in, not yours.
    Interesting?

    No.
Thread locked as inane and pointless.
