I love this show and I don't see the re-runs too much on the SciFi Channel.

Although I do admit to a bit of ignorance on Australian products, I must say that this one is probably my favorite Aussie export.

No offense...but it was one massive waste of time.
I got into after awhile though.

    Of course.
as Simon Cowell would say. "That performance was utterly forgetable."
the show had a little fan base there but I don't think it managed to show on "real people" radar like some other sci fi series did.

Perhaps it was too gimmicky or (no pun intended) to far out there. They did try to bring the series to earth and personally that too away the intresting stuff....but I'm not saying that killed the show. I think it went on for as long as it could.

What does that mean? You got into it but it was a waste of time? How was it a waste of time?
They didn't just bring the series to earth it was always about Crichton trying to get back to earth. It was also meant to be a 5 season show and it got axed at the end of the 4th season however eventually it was wrapped up with a mini-series for the 5th season. So it pretty much lasted as long as it was supposed to.
I guess in a few years you'll make the exact same comment about Battlestar Galactica

It was a brilliant show. Whole thing. Much of the fan fiction has been good too. Though I don't think humans needed to be quite so puny.

Hope it gets restarted, but Browder and...Black? "Aeryn"...are on bloody Stargate now, which was their main competitor as I understand.

Stargate is over, it ended last year.

Um... as for your assessment of the show, I agree. I loved it.

Best episodes: "Into The Lion's Den" I, II, and III. "Liars, Guns and Money" I and II. "Peacekeeper Wars"

Hm. Well, they were on it then. Maybe they made the jump to one of the offshoots? I confess, I don't watch them.

Quite right. Though, they didn't actually start on it until well after Farscape left the airwaves.

A lot of the FS loyalists seem to think SG was responsible. Dunno. They were both only really playing on SF, IHMO.

    WTF, IDK.

I enjoyed Farscape for a time but then it became more war like and someone was always getting killed or hurt.

Well it did become more warlike and people were certainly dieing off all the time. I think that was one of the shows qualities. It's not like Crichton wanted war. In fact, he did everything to avoid it. I think it tells a powerful story that reflects the truth of our existence: war happens, people die, so the only thing you truly have is family and friends and the love between you.

In the end, it was a love story and an allegory for our lives: Aeryn a loveless martinet and Crichton an emotional peacenik are thrust together in a violent part of the universe and between them both they are forced to find some common ground and from that common ground blossoms their love.

Farscape started out non warlike but after the first season there was a definate upsurge in killings. Unlike Star Trek original or NG which didn't go for killing everything all the time. To me Dr Who still is the best with the least (somewhat) amount of killings. At least Who doesn't have weapons to kill with along with him. To much killings today. It really makes little sense because you can make great Sci Fi without many killings at all, as the first Star Trek showed us that could be done.

Farscape was unpredictable, which was one of the things that I liked about it. Maybe that was because it was made by Australians who, as you know, are naturally fairly perverse. But...I have to admit even as a guy I really liked the whole love story thingy. All angsty.

    I've said too much.

Oh: and Crichton playing infinite paper-rock-scissors with his clone. The look on his face captured it perfectly. Oh, and Aeryn and him in the last episode - string knows what I'm talking about. D'Argo crying; that was sad and messed up. Man. That hit me pretty hard. And when he met Aeryn. Claudia Black, you saucy Aussie you. Rowr. And when she complimented him for his hiding abilities. Ah. Wadda show.

I should probably buy the DVD set.
