I posted this in another thread about the same topic that Im about to start a rant on now:

Okay that's it. WHAT THE FRELL IS HAPPENING TO SCIFORUMS!? In the last week or two we've had such threads as "Favorite Position" and "Homosexual Survey" and now we get a thread entitled "Big Penis".

I for one would like some uh, ya know. Restrictions. Most of these threads... let me rephrase that. ALL of these threads are in the free thoughts forum. Im all for the free thoughts forums, its where I do a great deal of posting. But I find that these new threads make sciforums look like a sleazy version of a "Id like to get to know about your sex life site".

These threads are highly inappropriate. What ever happened to my nice clean sciforums?

I contribute this to most of the new members that we seem to be getting everyday. Members like MeatMissle... haha yeah funny, name yourself after a human body part. The point to this post is that sciforums is quickly becoming a sex site. This site is about Science and Scifi and stuff like that. Not about how big your penis is. Im all for fun and comedy but this is far beyond anything that I signed up for. Im not leaving sciforums Im just complaining.

Now most of you will probably mention the fact that I started a thread called "New Girl (No not a new member)". That thread was about dating, not penis size or your favorite postion.

On another note most of you dont know that by coming to sciforums now while Im at school, or work, can get me in trouble because of threads like the ones mentioned above? Its the only free place that I can go and post anymore without having to worry that my teacher/boss will get mad at me. And that is quickly changing.

This is why I think sciforums needs a "Sexual Politics" forum. You could throw any random sex-related threads, abortion, etc., into it.

It would make it easy for the moderators to keep the forums "topic related", without deleting the threads.

Though I recently was opposed to a "Sex" forum, I now think there might be a place for it, if only to clean up the other forums.

I like the idea of a sex politics area as well, that way those of us who didn't want to bombarded with these threads didn't have to see them, and those of us who do know just where to find em! Great idea Static!

I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY WITH THE THREAD OF THIS THREAD

I as you will all know have contributed to most of the raunchier threads in what I hope is a light hearted fasion, sometimes I've had to shout people down a little because I thought that their lack of knowledge (oh damn it ignorance) was letting them down.

For the reasons stated by CC relating to school, this is a perfect idea to ensure our younger members don't get hauled over the coals for joining in here.

They may even learn a thing or two!

Also as a person who has worked in sexual health for 10 years. Has seen most of it and probably done it too I'd like to be considered for the post of moderator should this go ahead.

It shouldn't be a 'fuck me baby' site either. Gods know there's enough of them about online.

Waddaya say Dave? Let's do it!!

I'm just pasting what I responded to in the "big weenie" site:

"I just want to say that when I discovered this site I was totally elated..an arena with a lot of intelligent people plus valuable info. Something rare on the internet. Most sites are dedicated to selling/buying sex, making money and just plain ole' useless crap.

I can understand Counsler's dilemma though and I can understand how sometimes threads like these can continue indefinitely because they're humorous at times and address a topic which started about the time when Cousin Neantherdal sat by the fire contemplating his "weapon" or lack of. [Do men fixate about this in other galaxies?]

I guess the trick is to stay within the boundaries of acceptabilty according to Sciforums standards when posting."

Well, just for the record, I haven't said that much sexually in my conversations with pumpkins. I've really just been messing around. If it's really buggin yas then we can move it to p/ms.

    bugging moi?

Nothing ever bothers me personally...don't care who says what. I only posted my original message because being a "junior" member I only want to comply with the headmaster of this institution.

Personally, I would rename it the "Daycare Forum", ignore it and move on. But it's Porfiry's site and he is the moderator of that forum in particular and appears to have no issue. So I just ignore it and move on.

It's kind of like an AM radio station for me. Too much background noise.

    Peace.

Porfiry if you want to make a sex forum go for it. Its your choice. But I think that it would lead to chaos....what I mean is that your going to get members to join just for the sex section....when I say members I mean weirdos.

Pollux you and pumpkin flirting having nothing to do with this. Its not like your talking about touching each other or somethng.... and if you are do it in a PM.

bbcboy thanks for agreeing with me and understanding my situation.

Goofyfish your probably right about it being a "daycare". But its a free thoughts forum. I would of thought that it would be more about "Hey why is cheese made from bacteria?". And not "How big is your doink?!".

Im all for free speech but the free thoughts forum is making this site dirty.

    My 2ยข...

Sex is as much a part of life as birth and death. There are places for most everything. That does not mean that we should BS threads such as, "How long my weiner is" or "My sex organ is a black hole" for example. There are plenty of sites out there where that is an acceptable subject.

One Site Administrator that has such comes here often enough to find a few brain waves for a breath of fresh air. He once stated that some of his members hit the reply button just to see the post count rise. (That was his method of indicating the IQ of some of his members at the site.) If and when he reads this I hope he understands that this was used as an example of where such will lead and not a reflection on his site.

What I am saying is that this will lead to a mentality drain as folks leave this site in search of something that simulates the brain. Believe it not that is a rare find in these days of mindless entertainment. Those that are left won't be much in the line of serious calibre for discussion once you leave that subject. A poor trade, IMO.

If you need the stimulation of sex, get the real thing. Talking about it here will not relieve the hormone pressure. It will just gather more of like-minded, flustrated, and on-edge members. I will give no advice on how to go about that.

While I am open minded on a lot of things, I fail to see where giving a forum to just sex will be a help but that is my opinion. I think that in the end what will result will be a lot of rude, unintellegent discussion on next to nothing but snide comments.

Bad idea. I can accept a abortion thread. One about your penis size is out of the question.

As soon as you create that Porfiry sciforums would go down that hill and would not be able to come back. The best example that I can think of is what happend recently in Nevada. The reason why people didnt want Pot legalized is because it would cause total chaos. Drugs would be all over the US, a border patrol type situation would of been required to keep the drugs in Nevada. More trouble then its worth. Needless to say, if you created a Sex Forum the same thing would happen. People would join just to talk about sex, not science, SEX.

Im not young, Im in college, a private college.. in other words its all indoors. I dont want a sex forum, it would decay sciforums even further.

    sex forum

I agree with wet1 and coffeebean....if someone needs to talk about sex so badly there are about 1 trillion sites out there. Besides, the topic is repititious. I mean it's not like all of a sudden the medical profession disclosed "sex" is a cure for cancer or dimentia.

sorry Counsler....needed to add my two pennies...

plain, straight and simple - I do not support a sex forum.
These are sciforums! and that's why come here - and not to hear how someone is fucking someone/thing else

Maybe if the sex thread presented a scientific problem or something odd that people noticed, it'd be okay. But other than that..

There are plenty of sex forums on the internet. There are relatively few good science/philosophy/politics/religion forums. This is one of the few.

If you want to talk sex, I say go to a sex forum. If you want to talk sex with somebody here, send a personal message, get ICQ or something.

I don't want to read this rubbish.

"Though I recently was opposed to a "Sex" forum, I now think there might be a place for it, if only to clean up the other forums."

Haven't the moderators the ability to delete inappropriate topics or posts?

    Curious
