Whats with all this Adult section stuff ?...

Seriously guys, can we get over the ruckus one immature teenager can create?

I Hereby invite all mature teenagers on this forum to make their case against all this separatism. All because of one member, suddenly all teenagers are suspect. I know that this isn't the intention, but I find the obsession with age a bit unnerving..

First it started with one thread..then it became many. now it's plain annoying.

I seriously hope I'm not the only sane teenager here. But thats my two cents anyway.

a mature teenager is an adult.

an immature teenager is a kid.

Why do people automatically jump to the conclusion it was one member? It wasn't. Don't believe the hype challenger, a lot of people bitch about one poster and make it their fault, this forum has a history of "gang rape" scenarios. (That is meant figuratively)

If you read the starting post in the thread I made you'd realise there is far more at stake then just one posters age, it's about how the internet restricts the flow of the website based upon censorship because of how the content can be rated. Basically creating a way to place "Mature" stuff (this includes the racial threads, abuse threads, sexually orientated threads) away from being spidered and where "casual" members can just access freely will lessen the chances that the overall forum suffers censorship externally.

In essence it would actually improve the forum rather than turning it into a Xenophobic community where nobody from the outside world can access.

True, I'd like to dispel the recurring assumption that It's all teenagers.

Believe me, I know that teens talk about far worse stuff than pops up here. The thing is though they don't do it in front of their parents and well we know why

at 17 and as someone who has to look after themselves and a completely incompetent household, i strongly believe that it is not physical age that counts, but the mentality of the person. If someone else of 17 reacts to certain words and phrases in an immature manner, then it does not mean that I, another teen of the same age, will react in the same way.
Therefore age segregation within the forum is not necessary. I think self censoring is a good plan, i.e. read at your own disgretion.

People mature at different ages. Some teens are very mature at 15 while others take longer to mature. Since no one can tell who is going to mature and when they will it is difficult for many adults to determine what ages are appropriate for certain things today. That is why adults try to find a age that they feel represents a time in which there's a maturity level that MOST teens can be called "mature".

Again that is why an arbitrary age of say "PG 13" is chosen for certain things. Since teens are all the same age but not the same maturity adult's must determine where to figure out certain things should or shouldn't be allowed, like drinking, types of movies and so on. That isn't trying to say all teens are the same but that many are just not ready yet for drinking, driving or other things.

A check box on a web site means nothing. How do you sue a 13 year old?

Use your head, it is like those signs at amusemant parks where you need to be a certain size to go on a ride. You can stick the sign it up your ass because it does not mean anything.

Well I give BG some credit for registering herself on a science site. Then again, her whole purpose on this site could have been a bet from her friends to attempt to create a ruckus on a science forum. I could make a whole Tiassa post on what BG could be. In my point of view, BG brought out the immaturity in a lot of members I originally thought to be grown-up.

BG has symbolized that everyone no matter how old or wise, still can have their immaturity reveal its ugly head.
