This poll should be public. How many of the Yes votes are by Americans? Obviously its no biggie for them that their country is constantly bullying and invading other countries.

You mean the freedoms that GWB and his "Patriot Act" have eliminated? Or the few that are still left?

Countries NEED militaries. As for myself, i can live in extremes but there is no reason to subject people to criminal behavior.

Excuse me??? I'm born and bred American, and I voted NO! I strongly believe in a militia.
You need to understand how (frighteningly) powerful GWB and his cronies are and were. They pumped FEAR FEAR FEAR into the populace after 9/11; fabricated "intelligence" about Sadaam.
Most/more than half of americans really believe the whole "Spreading democracy" bullshit.
There are even those who still think the world views the US as 'the good guys'
Even some educated liberals thought Sadaam had WMDs and supported the invasion.

'Course I have little use for liberals.

    Man.... what the hell...

SIMPLE FACT.......... INEQUALITY CAUSES MOVEMENT TOWARDS THE ELIMINATION OF ANOTHER: WE ARE ALL A VARIATION.... IN ESSENCE WE DO NOT EQUATE... SO IN SOME SMALL FORM OR ANOTHER THERE WILL ALWAYS BE MOVEMENT TOWARDS THE ELIMINATION OF ANOTHER... NOW IF YOU FACTOR IN THE BUILD UP OF CERTAIN IDEALS WHERE THERE WILL BE A COMMON GROUND TO OPPOSE A FAR GREATER INEQUALITY THAN THE FRACTIONAL VARIATIONS OF A GROUP FORMED OUT OF THE IDEALS; THE VARIATIONS WILL BE NEGATED FOR A TIME SPAN. THAT TIME SPAN WILL EVENTUALLY DISSOLVE... LEAVING THE ORIGINAL GROUP AND THAT TOO WILL EVENTUALLY DISSOLVE, just so another one can form and it will repeat in certain degrees...

come on now this is very clear to me... WAR IS A FACTOR OF LIFE.

And I am an American... I am proud to be an American. Some of it is good some of it is bad but what the hell... you take the good with the bad.

At one time I hated America and sometimes I still do... but that is because I am miserable in my life NOT AMERICA'S.

AMERICA WAS AND IS A SPRING BOARD FOR MANY PEOPLE................

We war... other countries war... there will never be a time in a long enough time line that war will not be present.

Good luck training and equipping a militia to rival the combat power of a modern army (especially the US Army).

Do we have to listen to your personal failures and crying all the time? That's what it is and i am telling you it is because you need someone to point these things out.

Understood. However, consider the following. A modern army needs certain capabilities to remain a viable threat to others, both on the battlefield and as a deterrent. Most of these capabilities are beyond the scope of what a militia force structure is capable of. For example, maintaining an integrated air and missile defense network across an entire theater of operations is not something a bunch of weekend warriors are trained or equipped to be able to do (on their own at least), yet such a capability is of paramount importance to a modern fighting force. There are many more examples, but the point is clear.

Just about the only thing militias have been good at independently, on the modern battlefield, are presence patrols around their local origins where they enjoy a rapport with the population and neighborhood security against ragtag terrorists or otherwise irregular threats (this all falls under what we call low intensity conflict or MOOTW). Against a modern army that is well trained and equipped, a militia would not stand a chance.

I'm an American that doesn't fall into your stereotype. Why do you assume the citizens of a country of 300 million are like-minded?

Article II, Sec. 2 of the U.S. Constitution states:"The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States." Obviously, the U.S. Army and Navy are permitted by the Constitution.

    That's besides the point.
You can love your country and hate your government at the same time. They are not the same things.

Point made, but I think you meant to quote someone else. ashura was referring to Japan and the Japan Self-Defense Forces.

What is there to love about a country? Do you love the dirt?

The word used was fear NOT hate. What is there to fear? Surely the millions of immigrants every week do not fear the government.

So if the government changes to one that you absolutely hate, you also hate your country ?
What about revolutions ? What about patriots ?

What about the natural beauty of your country, and the people and their mentality ?

He said FEAR Enmos. Does hate and fear mean the same thing to you because it could be a language problem.
