Am I the only person here who listens to contemporary music??? I like classic rock as much as the next unreconstructed hippie, but I've heard those old tunes so many times that I can play them note-perfect in my head. In fact I've played a bunch of them in bands. Don't get stuck in a time warp. There's lots of fabulous new music out there.

Iron Maiden - The Longest Day. Kind of a cheesy song if you're not into those kind of lyrics, but I love the spirit of it. It's inspiring.

Yeah, I always find it strange when people cling to a single era or genre of music. While there is no replacing the music you grow up on, there is also nothing like the thrill of finding new stuff that makes you appreciate music in a different way than you thought possible. Lately I've been on a bit of a post-rock bender. This has been a phenomenal decade for that type of music, a genre that I think perfected the art of the sublime, apocalyptic crescendo.

I've tried to listen to ...Rap, Hip Hop, New Age, Grundge, Disco and others but I do not enjoy them whatsoever. If you do then that's fine, but I'd rather enjoy good ol' rock and roll the way it was meant to be played. If you cannot understand that then wait until you get much older, say into your 60's and see what music you enjoy then.

    That was so good!

Unfortunately, James Hetfield has lost his ability to come up with strong vocal melodies.

I listened to the new CD 'Death Magnetic' which came out today. There are some good riffs, but the production is so muddy and his voice sounds lost in it.

The producer should have put James in a big empty stone church with lots of natural reverb and used distant micing.

Robbie Williams - Rudebox, specifically "She's Madonna". Great song.
