There was nothing wrong with the premise of the Vietnam War. What was screwed up was the tactics.

The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were neccessary and justified.

Correction: we helped them fall apart. We forced them into an arms race that ruined their economy.

Well thats a stupid thing to say. because proportional to the size and wealth of the developing countries we helped, we sent a ton of money.

o. no, thats not what i meant... i mean acting as a beacon of hope for oppressed peoples, serving as an international champion of democracy, being a loyal friend to our allies, etc.

Some cents I would like to share:

1. Voted in George Bush ??: Um No. Humans are smart and the votes for were falsified.

2. Brought Shock and awe to Iraq. The very country that did not attack the USA.

3. Removed Saddam Hussein from Kuwait at the right timing to get a certain party to look good that's all. If they gave darn about the state of Iraq's abuse of citizens they had plenty of previous opportunities to remove him before then.

We have a great country except for the liars with deceit to themselves and others who think none of the above be so.

No, I was referring to the peoples on the eastern side of the Iron Curtain during the Cold War... the Poles, the Czechs, the Hungarians, the Ukrainians, the Russians, etc.

Personal computers were invented in the USA.
They were constructed in China.
C was invented in the USA.
C++ was invented in Denmark.
Windows was created in the USA (wait, is this a good thing?)
The Free Software Foundation and GNU was started in the USA.
The Linux Kernel for GNU/Linux was written in Finland.
Ubuntu Linux (currently the most popular distribution) was started by a South African.

It's a collaborative effort. People from all over the world have contributed real time and effort, which is more than this forum thread is worth.

 

That's a silly argument. The TV doesn't look like or even basically function like the TV when it was invented, cars don't either, and yet we still credit the original inventor. So no, the computer was not brought to us by the USA. The man who invented the electric toothbrush did not invent the toothbrush.

Well, I'll rise above the stereotype some assign me here.

1. Fought off the english and established an non monarchy state
2. Produced several technological and moral achievements.
3. Was the leader of change for a while.. but now it's not.
4. Produced a lot of dumbasses for the rest of the world to laugh at.
5. Created some good movies, at the cost of spreading and dominating global cultures.
6. Gave great writers inspiration (Margaret Atwood took her dystopia from the USA)

and thats about it.. really.

Although deregulation is debatable, some say it's a good thing, I disagree.

 

You did not live in a time when no one could afford a telephone or a car or a computer and the only thing you did with your money was put it in the bank because there wasn't any innovation [people did not take risks] so nothing to buy in the markets but food and clothes. For bringing all these things to the people [rather than the elite], you have to thank Americans.

Anyone who has bought a house in the last couple of years will be a wage slave for the rest of their lives. Unless they have rich parents who are kind enough to shuffle off their mortal coil and leave a nice fat inheritance.

The only thing that may get them out of it is a few years of hyper inflation.
If you owe money, inflation is your friend.
