    Ew?? Really, Star???
To be honest, I kind of wouldn't have pegged you to say that. I thought that was a disgusting use of The Beatles. Personally, I don't believe in covering bands like The Beatles. At least not the major songs. I don't want to hear some half-decent artist try and do a version of Paint it Black (which was done), Yesterday (which was done) or any other great, classic song. These artists (and some of them I would not even call artists) are NOT John Lennon, they are NOT Paul McCartney. It just ends up sounding like total shit. The Beatles got it right - deal with it. And if you MUST cover a song by The Beatles or Stones or, god forbid, Zeppelin - do NOT record it and do NOT do a famous song. Covering something like Strawberry Fields Forever, that's not cool. Do you know why? Because The Beatles DID get it right. And you are NOT The Beatles. And EVERYONE knows that song by them. All it looks like is someone trying to make money off of another artist's success, pathetic. And again, if you MUST cover a great band, do one of their less-famous songs. Like "You Know my Name" is a great Beatles song to cover. Half the people won't even know it's The Beatles' originally. Or something like "Cry Baby Cry". Many people won't know that, but it's a fantastic song. And again - do it in concert. Don't give me any of that bullshit that artists do it to "pay homage to their heroes". If they just wanted to pay homage, they would have damn well played the song in concert and not tried to make money off it.

Anyway, I figured I beefed up MMW, so I might as well back it up. Here's some reviews:

Hmm, this is tough. FIrst of all, I have to remember what I bought this year, and, having done that, have to decide which was the best.

I think I got The Doors self-titled album this year. That's bloody awesome. Besides that, probably Harly McNarland-stuff, or Stone Sour.

Anyhoo, I dig that CD! It kicks ass. I like the Black Crowes version of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds the best.

The doors self titled is classic. Such a trippy album.

Any1 notice that old ELO song that is all over the tv in the US all of a sudden? It is on the new VW commercial and a movie commercial..strange. Good song though...

Also, I have to agree with tyler about the beatles thing...

But listening to bad beatles covers still beats the crap out of listening to the shite being played on the radio.

Sorry for not replying old friend. Been in & out of the country & haven't had the chance to catch up with the old Sciforums. Thanks for the welcome back!

Thought I'd post this thread 'cos I was concerned by the amount of rubbish released by music artists in the last few months. Say, do you guys in the US have this Pop Star competition stuff on TV...it seems to be sucking my will to live!!

750$ Canadian. And it's gone down in price since the release of the 60 gig (!!!!!) Nomad Jukebox 3. I totally recommend getting one... I can NOT believe I used to be limited to 20 songs and a skipping discman. *shudders*
