Ah, I see. If we didn't give food to poor countries the local farmers would make more money and they could afford to feed their families.
Ok, that's just stupid. Farmers are at the mercy of the weather and they need the food just as much as anyone else in poor countries. Whomever wrote the article didn't grow up on a farm.

Apparently America is the only country that understands what a right is. No one has a right to anything a naked savage in the forest doesn't already have. You basically have the right to be left alone. How can you argue otherwise? How can one person claim to have a right that imposes upon some other person the demand that he provide it? What about he other guy's rights?

Would a right to food imply that restaurants, grocery stores, and farmers can't charge for food? After all, they are only providing what we have a right to. On what basis could they justify charging for food if it was, indeed, a "right"?
