Well....I have been getting what I price things at, with some minor dickering but if I state the price is firm! it's firm!.

I rather not have to waste time packing and shipping anything anywhere. I rather them just pick it up for themselves.

Like today I sold a huge Multi Sport Arcade style Game. The person came and I got exactly what I asked for it. I don't even know how I would have shipped that to someone. I guess smaller items would be ok, but even then I can't be bothered to fool around with packing and shipping.

I am going to assume that a potential murderer won't be coming to buy a kid's bike. I take things out to the garage as well so they don't come in and see what's in the house.

Well, these ebay procedures that you can't be bothered to go through, are there to protect both the seller and the buyer. It is a MUCH more secure transaction.
About shipping, there is a big advantage, it allows you to sell to the entire country, or even worldwide. Of course, if you're just selling nick knacks from your garage, it's fine. But if it's something like that Louis Vuitton trunk that I posted here this week, it's well worth it. In fact, the buyer is a guy from England.
I'd feel pretty uneasy about having strangers come to my place of residence to pick up stuff. I bought a guitar from Craigslist once, but I arranged a meeting at a train station, and took my husband with me. The whole transaction took all of 2 minutes.

There use to be a local brick and mortar storefront in my town. You could bring your items to them. For a fee, they would do all the photography, listing details, selling and shipping on Ebay. Then they cut you a check after it sold. I made a couple hundred dollars one month. Lazy person's EBAY, that's me!
