AHAHAHAHAH! You know what the game is! You just keep beating that big piñata until the candy falls out! It's not a game of red versus blue, it's about green versus red! They LOVE the red! Oh, they say they're trying to "go green", and they might drive more fuel-efficient cars (perhaps in thanks to the "cash for clunkers program", but the budget shows more red ink than a goddamn red ink factory. WOO! Free candy! Play the game, comrades, the motto is SPEND TO SAVE! I'll give you a cash prize if you post a member of Congress tapping the ass of a piñata like a rap star!

Oh, wait, they just spent my money. It vanished right from my paycheck! I didn't even get to say hello. But it's okay, it's for the greater good. ALL HAIL THE MASSIVE PIÑATA!

"House provides $200M for government VIP jets"

The almost $200 million appropriation to buy three C-37 jets, the military version of the Gulfstream 550, is buried in a $636 billion Pentagon budget passed by the House last week. It's not as fancy as the version sold to private customers, but still is a very nice ride.

The Pentagon asked for only one of the $65 million planes as part of an ongoing effort to replace aging jets such as the C-20, an older Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. plane that costs about $6,100 an hour to operate, compared with less than $2,700 for the C-37, according to department figures.

"Top Democrat denounces health care protests"

The outlines of a the Finance Committee compromise have emerged in recent weeks—although nothing is final. The package would cost around $900 billion over 10 years and would be fully paid for through a variety of revenue raisers including a tax on health insurers that offer high-cost plans worth more than $20,000 a year.

Individuals would be required to get insurance, either through an employer, on their own, or through a government program. Federal subsidies would help low-income and many middle-class households afford the premiums. Medicaid would be expanded to cover more people close to the poverty line. Nearly all Americans would be covered.

"Fannie Mae seeks $10.7B in US aid after 2Q loss"

The government, which seized control of Fannie Mae and its sibling Freddie Mac last September, has already spent about $85 billion to prop up the two companies. Fannie Mae's new request from the Treasury Department will bring the total to nearly $96 billion. Freddie Mac is expected to report its quarterly results on Friday.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac play a vital role in the mortgage market by purchasing loans from banks and selling them to investors. Together, Fannie and Freddie own or guarantee almost 31 million home loans worth about $5.4 trillion. That's about half of all U.S home mortgages.

"US food stamp list tops 34 million for the first time"

Average benefit was $133.65 in May per person. The economic stimulus package enacted earlier this year included a temporary increase in food stamp benefits of $80 a month for a family of four.
