    I would like to make a claim;

that when asked 'why' by another as an inquiry: 'Why', is to undestand.

    And with a Socratic twist:

    "Why would anyone ask, why?"

    Indeed.

Bishadi, your OP was unclear. Are you claiming that to ask the question 'Why?' is to seek understanding??

    Why would anyone ask why?

    To understand.

Simple. So what is the reason for us to understand anything, why whould we understand?

Note; it is a similiar use of 'why' but it is NOT the same.

    Not a meaningful question

"Why" is a concern for Philosophy, Religion and Metaphysics, NOT Science.

Science is only concerned with "What" and "How".

    Why is there Gravity ?
    Answer; No one knows.
But we do know quite a bit about What it is and How it works.

I would say that why? is at least as good a scientific question as what? Why tend to lead to answers around causation. What? even is much more likely to mislead

    since
it seems to get answers as if they were independent of observers.

Whereas we can only answer using nouns that are shorthand for our experiences.

    WRONG...............

"Why" something happens is bound to "HOW"?

'what' is to 'label' a name..

    How defines why.

    almost NO ONE.

Now that comment is based on compacent acceptance to the existing psuedo-science

and from ben the man, to the king mods themselves............ they ALL KNOW THIS

but just toooooo complacent, prideful and stone-cold ignorant to learn beyond what they believe.

    "Why would anyone ask, why?"

because each conscious life born to experience has wanted to understand 'what life is'

why, how and "the purpose" of............... being alive!

them reasons are why 'religions' even exist

they are why 'science' even exists

    to UNDERSTAND

It is the single most universal quest of every single human being that ever experienced consciousness................

    Nope, they're different questions.
Why asks for the reason or intent.
    How asks for the mechanism.

    No-one.
    Especially not you.

More unsupported anti-science trolling with, as usual, nothing at all to support your contention.

    And you still don't learn

Nope, for pushing nonsense and failure to even try to back up your nonsense.

    Specious gobbledygook.

    But science doesn't do "why".

Nah, most of us just want bread on the table.
"universal quest of every single human being" indeed.

    Mod Hat,

    Bishadi, calm down.
You're doing nothing here but opining. In this subforum, you must provide an argument and support it. Blind assertions and incoherent statements are not acceptable. I'm getting exceedingly tired of cleaning up your blathering posts. If you feel you cannot learn to engage in rational discourse, then feel free to go elsewhere, as you will not be tolerated in this subforum.

    hmmmm...why...interesting concept..

    the question that begins knowledge..
the question that without positing concedes slavery/dictatorship/servitude
the question that leads to someone getting very upset/angry when asked to the point of 'i don't know'

    why?..because i said so.
why?..because thats the way it is..
    why?..because its the law..
    why?..

Your question means nothing as it is self explanatory .
I see no philosophy here .
    Oops....no imagination too .

Why? I will tell you "why". It starts with understanding, if you truly do understand something this means you truly know the positive and negative consequence of a decision. These decisions have infinite positive and negative charges. If you truly understand, it would be in your best interest to stick to the positive marks. If you truly understand you would forgive and to forgive is divine, making everyone well...closer to God and closer to understanding why everything happens around you and those around you. This is when you ego kicks in or your second part of yourself that has been ruining your life for the past of your own life and tell me that I'm wrong. You all go back to your life wasting it as you were and in the end you still ask yourself at night why?

What if the language you use includes more than one 'why' with nuances?

I believe the question is directed to REASON. Reason is WHY something happens. "What is the use?"

Too comprehend as living (rocks that can roll, by choice)

is how to live beyond the period of choice
