Half of monitor significantly darker and ghosting??

Weeeeird problem.

I have a samsung 305T monitor. Beautiful piece of machinery. But I leave for twenty minutes, and on return, the left half of the monitor is significantly darker than the right and ghosting like crazy toward the far left. It looks like the saturation is maxed. Toward the center, it's kind of flashing.

The right half is totally normal. What is going on here?? I didn't do anything to cause this.
I'll try to take a picture tomorrow.

Also I suggest you get a replacement and ask either for the same one or 305T Plus Monitor, its a new version of the 305T...the warranty is 3 years so hopefully you kept all the papers. Its worth it. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/repair/supportServicePolicyWarrantyMain.do

Contact them, tell them the issue, ship it, and get it in 3 weeks.

Thanks, it's halfway through a three year warranty. Sending it in today.
Only wish I could figure out what happened...

 

It's suggested that LCD's and Plazma's and the like aren't placed in direct sunlight. Sunlight can degrade the screen or even "melt" it. (I don't mean melted cheese melt, I mean slight distortions in the physical shape.)

If there is no sunlight, then the other potential is overheating, either from the screen picking up large amounts of dust covering say remenants of someones smoking habit or if the the screen has been placed too near a heating unit. (Like a radiator).

I hope that of course you've just got something similar to a CDC error, rather than the above, as this will be covered by your warrantee and be prepotion to a manufacturing issue (malfunctioning chipset).
