Surely, if you have insurance you would have an up to date insurance card? Driving without insurance can have so many serious implications it's unreal. If you actually did have an up to date insurance card that you simply forgot to keep in the car, couldn't you just go to the police station the next day and prove it?
The rest of your rant aside... let me get this straight. If he pulled you over for a broken tail light and was going to give you hard time about it, but no fine, and then realized that you're insurance card was expired (which I'm assuming is a more serious offense), he should just let it go because that's not the original reason he pulled you over? What if he pulled you over because you had a broken tail light, and then discovered you had a mutilated corpse in the back seat that you were taking to dump in a river. Should he let you off because he didn't pull you over on the suspicion that you were transporting a dead body?
I know, it really is kind of ridiculous when you think about it. But it discourages from drinking at all when you have to drive, and I guess that's the whole point of it.
I was cranky. I was ranting. Doesn't anybody rant anymore??? It's not logical but it certainly makes ME feel better Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! And incidentally, he didn't even pull me over for the tail light. The first thing he said to me when I rolled down my window was "it's icy out" and I was like "no shit". Anyways...I'm over it.
As long as you feel better. I just thought that your argument on that one point was funny. So I guess you also made me feel better... so thank you?
Yes, go to the auto parts store and buy the damned light! It's way less expensive than a ticket. Many tickets for bad taillights and what not are dismissed so long as you fix the problem, by the way.
I didnt read all the posts..but when you go to court, show proof that you have valid insurance and more than likely the judge will dismiss the charge. But jess...these are some of life's annoying hassels. The law states you got to have valid proof of insurance when asked to provide it.
yep. You can even go and ask for an extension on the fix-it ticket if you can't afford to take care of it right now. I know cuz I got one for a loud muffler long ago. I went and fixed it and they voided the ticket
There are some good cops and some terrible ones as well . This also goes in every profession . I knew honest, caring and just cops and I knew corrupt , lying and deceitful ones as well .
I doubt the tail light is easy to fix it is a German car and the bulb alone is likely to cost at least 30 bucks and if it not the Bulb then she may as well rob a bank to fix it German cars are very expensive to fix. I know I used to own a Audi I had to pay 400 dollars for a freaking Battery.
why don't you just get the light fixxed? It would save you hassle. Anyone getting pulled over for little things like that should do a drink drive test.
