I find that ironic because no stable democracy in the past few hundred years has had such a major collapse.

Where practically communism and dictatorships have points A and B happen every other day almost....

    How is democracy so bad?

    Really?

US Constitution Article 1 Section 10

"No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts"

Please take out a dollar and read "legal tender"- unconstitutional as the dollar is first of all not backed by gold thus can not be legal tender. Federal Government doesn't have any enumerated powers by the constitution to set what 'legal tender' will be- that power is specifically given to the States... But the States are prohibited from making anything but gold and silver as legal tender.

There was news about 'liberty dollars'- they were confiscated by the FBI- these were gold and silver coins.

E-Gold was shut down to the US folks because that was using gold and silver as money (legal tender) online- ?

Supreme Court rules in favor of corporations and the Federal Reserve. And is not a non-partisan branch as anyone would like to think..

    Peace be unto you

Is it democracy? To me most democracies have been over-taken by corporations and special interests- the word 'democracy' seemingly is a good illusion as as 'demo' is people- illusions are powerful. The illusion of choice and power of the people?

    Peace be unto you

Democracy is ab-so-lute-ly a failure. It's also nonsensical.

If we want direction as a society, then democracy is nonsensical; we need to create a social plan and stick with it, long-term.

With democracy, we bicker and argue over petty politics and never get anything done. Seriously, at least in the US, it just goes Democrat, Rep, Democrat, Rep, Democrat, Rep.........pick one already and stick with it, and get rid of the competition.

That would be a recipe for a dictatorship.

Yes. That's the point: direction and authority so as to build a real civilization.

Like the Communists or Nazi's did in the 20th century ?
As we all know, those two extremes committed democide on millions of innocent civilians in "building" their "real" civilizations.
That's the risk you take giving the government all the power and eliminating democracy.

Sure. The Nazi Civilization was, in fact, quite sophisticated; I made a thread about this a while back in the History thread.
So, as a civilization, we are forbidden to make sacrifices for the greater good? Remember, that is how they saw it.

In the interest of building a purer society, according to the Nazis, those people had to be eliminated.

    Please open your mind.
    What risk? Death?

If sacrifices need to be made, then let them be made, if that will result in a better and truer society.

Remember, I am not defending Nazism, but merely pointing out that your political ideals are limited and limit you in your ability to get anything done.

Moses Fedr808. lots of good philosophers and good thinkers adore democracy and have excellent ideas on how to achieve it . At the end of the day we are stuck with people like G.W. Bush or his twin Barack Obama who have no damn idea what real democracy is !!.

The point remains: Democracy is a terrible form of government in that it has so many flaws, it's just better than any of the alternatives for the vast majority of people who have to live under it.

I think one can construct hypothetically better forms of government than democracy (to use the term generically), but I think that such a hypothetical government would tend to be unstable and would generally be places where most people would not want to live, save the person who envisioned it.

I think a monarchy potentially has unique cultural benefits that make it, though less free than democracy, a better choice for society.

Monarchy is another way of slavery whereas one family and its entourage owes the whole damn country . The same family is above all the laws and does nothing and receives billions of dollars !!!.

All the best countries in the world are republic-type governments, norse. The USA is the best of out everyone and we're also the freest.

Meanwhile, there are dictatorships all over the world... and every single one of them is an undesirable foreign shithole.

How did you measure and compare the freedom, exactly?
