You should always bear in mind that when socializing on the internet, you can't punch someone in the face when they piss you off.

Well, wait a minute. If they actually tell you all about them, and they're honest and forthright, and they tell you where they live, ........? Hmm?

Or is that the very freakin' reason that we use fake names, fake addresses, fake persona, fake avatars, fake ......, well, whatever else can be faked, we do it on the Internet.

    Hey now Baron,

I have the same smart ass persona in person too. My avatar is real too but I sure ain't gonna give out my address. Who knows you might come knocking at my door one day looking for a home cooked meal.

Oh, I think some are real, Shorty, but even so you can't always be sure, can you? I mean, if someone is lying like hell, they aren't going to tell you, are they? See? One little lie ends up being the base for a vast, false life.

Ha! We both know that I'm a better cook than you, Shorty! If I showed up at your door for a meal, I'd have to bring all the ingredients and cook it myself!

Electronic culture disembodies and separates us from those closest to us. I don't care much for making close friends on the internet, although I believe you can. It isn't the same as having a relationship with someone in real life.

My son meets a lot of local girls on the internet first and when he meets them in real life, they turn out to be fruit cakes. Then he finds other girls through these and it works out in the end. So...perhaps, internet is a good tool for the final objectives.

    Romance and the Internets

Does it really matter if someone is joking? Eventually, if you like the way a person thinks their jokes and their real thoughts collide and you like it. This will require regular face to face at some point to be real romance, but having virtual or distance romance ain't a bad substitute. Especially with online talk, webcams, cheap airfare. It's possible, it can work, it's just knowing who you're dealing with.

FRUIT CAKES ARE NOT WANTED THINGS.

Something to keep in mind in real and virtual relationships.

Virtual fruitcakes smell less than real fruitcakes.

    The end.
