Do something about it (This is about the Supreme Court's decision this week) http://freespeechforpeople.org/
Well - according to their 'spiritual leader' Mistah Limbaugh, it's a righteous stroke in support of the US constitution. A couple of the 'leading lights' of God's Own Party were also heard by your humble narrator on television news broadcasts opining that it was a thing well and good and in accordance with the rights expounded in the 1st amendment of the aforementioned document, and that they failed to see what harm could come of it. Yeah... ...no harm in letting deep pockets throw more money at the political process... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
it basically shows clearly what some people have been saying for a while now. america is no longer a country for the people but on for the corporation.
No need to over react... lol... not all Americans are gettin screwed... well... at leas not in the short term.!!! Anyhow... my advice for americans is... avoid bein in the lower middle-class... an it woud also be a good idea to be able to afford you'r own medical insurance an retirement costs... hmmm... i guess the botom line is... have plenty of money an you will be fine.!!! Thangs are lookin brite... my taxes are reletively low an will prolly stay reletively low... an my medical insurance premiums will be a little over 15.000 this year an no dout the Republican corporatons will work to keep those premums from goin much higher.!!! At leas this supreme court decision wont effect other countrys.!!! A-Man.TTT
Jeez. I don't understand this at all. I'm definitely going to send some letters after I research this thoroughly, though, and find out what they were thinking.
I wanna hear the exact chronology when america was for people and when exactly it turned to corporations.
Corporations are made of people, just like anything else; so why shouldn't people be allowed to contribute to their politicians?
So than the people in the corporation should give the money and not the corporation. Though why I'm trying I don't know. your unabashedly pro corporation and would gladly give all your rights for their wants
Good pont... corporatons ARE made up of people... an electons woud be made a lot mor simple an honest if we jus cut-out the middle-man (individuals) an let the corporatons voat in our elected officials.!!!
if your not pro corporation why do you promote ideas that would give corporations near limitless power and individuals with no recourse against them? You just said you think corporations should be allowed to contribute.
Yes, because corporations are made up of people and it is only fair to give them a say; that is the beauty of democracy, after all! Ha, the irony of democracy. Anyway, sure corporations should be allowed to contribute. But, ask yourself this: do you really oppose corporate contributions in their own right, or do you oppose them in this case only because they are more likely to lean toward the right? Would you not support corporate 'contribution rights' if corporations were left-leaners?
Irrelevent... corporatons are made up of people an have the best interest of people at hart... not profits.!!!
So before the ww2 corporations was about people? Good to know Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Corporations have a legal obligation to their shareholders first and foremost--they are required, by law, to privilege profits. This is an important distinction: corporations are profit generating machines. They have a singular focus and that is it; they do not possess further interests, beliefs or ideologies. They're also (stating the obvious here) able to contribute disproportionately large sums to "their politicians", as compared to other citizens. Furthermore, the people that you speak of--those that comprise the corporation as a whole--are already free to make individual contributions.
Corporations are machinery. Giving them speech rights is like giving bulldozers travel rights - the same rights to use the public sidewalks and byways as a human being. A Constitutional amendment seems like a reasonable response. Better than waiting for the younger members of the Court to die. Some historical context, about what the people who wrote the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights thought about corporations and their "rights": http://www.reclaimdemocracy.org/corporate_accountability/history_corporations_us.html
No it isn't fair because their not a citizen. if it were the people in the corporation no problem but the corporation has no right. No I do not beliwve in artificail construct should be involved in government.
