Ok, so I am writing my dissertation, and I have a page at the front where I put quotes which mean something to me, and are symbolic of my journey through grad school, and life in general.

    They are

"Let him who seeks not cease seeking until he finds; and when he finds he shall be troubled; and having been troubled he shall marvel" -The Gospel of Thomas

"I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me." -Isaac Newton

So, Sci, let's hear it: what quotes sum up your lives?

If at first you do succeed try to hide your astonishment.

You can never consent to creep when your impulse is to soar.

We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.
    T. S. Eliot

    But this is my favourite:

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans - that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occured. A whole stream of events issues from the decision raising in one's favour, all manner of unforseen incidents and meetings which no man could have dreamed could have come his way

I don't remember where I first read it. But it ends with my favourite quote :

Whatever you can do or dream you can,
    Begin it
Boldness has genius power and magic in it.

    And lastly,

Keep an open mind but not so open that your brains fall out.

My favorite Scripture: "Search me oh God and know my heart, test me and know my thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends You and lead me on the path of everlasting life." -Ps 139:23
From someone who has seen/done it all. Ok, almost all.

"Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing." - Thomas Jefferson

"A man must know his destiny. if he does not recognize it, then he is lost. By this I mean, once, twice, or at the very most, three times, fate will reach out and tap a man on the shoulder. if he has the imagination, he will turn around and fate will point out to him what fork in the road he should take, if he has the guts, he will take it." - Gen. Patton

Never complain. Never explain. - Benjamin Disraeli

I'm still working on it, though.

[E]verywhere an indecent haste prevails, as if something would be lost if the young man of twenty-three were not yet "finished," or if he did not yet know the answer to the "main question": which calling? A higher kind of human being, if I may say so, does not like "callings," precisely because he knows himself to be called. He has time, he takes time, he does not even think of "finishing": at thirty one is, in the sense of high culture, a beginner, a child. - Nietzsche

You missed the rest of it, which really makes the quote:

``Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense''

“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out otheir dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.”

    Oh dear.
    It's per aspera ad astra.
Strangely enough Draqon keeps making that mistake.
I wonder what a check on sock puppets would tell me.
