Well good ol' Nelson Mandela has made his way back into the spotlight!

Friend of Fidel Castro and Momar Khadafi, Mandela has decided that it is his time to blast the United States. Recently, Nelson gave a speech to a Women's Forum in South Africa where he discussed the upcoming war with Iraq. Nelson commented; "One power with a president who has no foresight and cannot think properly, is now wanting to plunge the world into a holocaust". A holocaust, Nelson?

While I realize that the technical meaning of the word holocaust is simply "great loss" (though, originally it means "loss by fire", I think), has it come to represent somethin' a bit more? I mean if we take holocaust to simply mean "great loss", could we apply it the other way around? I mean, didn't the Nazi's suffer a holocaust in loosing WWII? Anywho, continuing with the great Mandela's speech: Mandela was obviously pondering over why the U.S. seems so ready to bypass the U.N. when he came to this little snippet of wisdom...

"Is it because the secretary-general of the United Nations is now a black man? They never did that when secretary-generals were white"

Yes Nelson. The U.S. is saying the U.N. doesn't matter because Khofi is black. There, there. There, there.

"If there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America. They don't care for human being"

Now, I'm no political historian and all, but haven't there been a couple of nations to do a little worse than the U.S.? Just a little? Bah, probably not. Obviously Khadafi and Mandela talked that one over.

If Mandela opposes the war, along with France AND Germany, the US is clearly lost.

    Really, Zero?

Mandela won his personal fight. He's bored now, and looking for a new one. The US is currently the whipping boy for those with tall poppy syndrome and presents him with an adequate target.

    Wow

Never thought I'd see people turn on Nelson Mandela, but such it is.

As to "Holocaust", he's not the only one. Sam Hamill, whose political views just got him un-invited to a White House poetry symposium (the event was cancelled, possibly in reaction to Hamill) wrote in his appeal to poets everywhere: Only the day before I had read a lengthy report on George Bush's proposed "Shock and Awe" attack on Iraq, calling for saturation bombing that would be like the firebombing of Dresden or Tokyo, killing countless innocent civilians. (reference)

If we do a "shock and awe" firestorm, as Mr. Hamill fears, "Holocaust" will be an appropriate word.

    thanx,

    Secretaries-General of the UN

As I recall, Poppy Bush had an interesting problem with the UN Sec.-Gen. during the first Gulf War. We all remember that Poppy liked to butcher the names of his enemies, (e.g.-"Sodom Huzain") but I fell over laughing every time he botched the name of the Secretary General ("Purrez de Kwellar").

Mr. Mandela may rest assured that it has nothing to do with the color of Mr. Annan's skin. Rather, he may sleep easy tonight knowing that the simple answer is that the US despises the United Nations and now wishes they'd never brought it about. Hell's bells--Clinton couldn't bleed money out of Congress to pay the back-dues Poppy had skipped on. Does anyone really think the UN is worth anything more to the US than, well, does anyone really think the UN is worth anything at all to Americans?

    thanx,
    Tiassa

I heard on the news today that with UN backing support for the war increases not only in the US but abroad. I feel that the UN has lost its purpose, that many of the nations involved in it are too afraid to openly stand up against the United States. If they can't do that, and prevent another "Great War," which we must acknowledge is possible, then they are useless. Other than to combat communism, that's why the UN was created, right?

If Mandela wants to speak out against the potential war, fine, but he had to go and try and bring race into the issue by offering that Bush is only doing this because the Secretary-General is black? He must be getting advice from Johhny Cochran.

The UN is beginning to look a little like the League of Nations did.

It does,if you take a look at its own Weakness. But it has a difference in a sense that it has U.S as an Ally.Unlike earlier where Wilson was sidlined and U.S was Kicked off...

Its really sad- the poor children, who'll be orphaned or killed.

Its coming down to where the US will become a menace to the other countries, they'll probably band together to protect themselves. The European Union may seek its own selfinterest by joining them.

    Hurray for Mandela!

Hurray for Nelson Mandela, by calling Bush by his nick name. He has proven to the world's political parasites that he has the biggest balls in the political planet!!
