Most people IRL can't handle my transhumanistic neutral utilitarian philosophies, so I don't mention them.

My political ideals change a lot depending on which group is pissing me off at the time... Any political leaning can make you fall over if you lean far enough. Usually then common sense hasn't got a chance with you. Those are the only kinds of people I can't relate to. Otherwise I can "get along" with most anyone.

Oh and the ultra-intelligent and ultra-stupid are both unbearable to me.

I get along with just about everyone. Regarding those with differing political beliefs, it's more fun to talk politics with someone you disagree with anyway. I did, however, once piss off this marxist I met at a bar so badly that he pulled a knife on me.

I have a lot of Republican friends. However, they're California Republicans, who're basically RINO's in the eyes of the southern base. That's because they don't subscribe to stupid shit like waiving the confederate flag, complaining about gay marriage, or hate minorities, etc.

I have nothing against reduced government, I just think the arguments for it are wrong, its not that we need less taxes, wasteful taxation is not the source of the problem, it is a symptom, you don't cure a disease by attacking the symptoms! Don' get me wrong I'm all for trying a "fair tax" reduce or abolish the income tax, tax directly from employers, manufactures, importers and stocks, simplify the taxation system dramatically. But we need to redesign our government, institute rank-preference voting to bring in third parties and break up the 2 party corruption block (2 parties are better then one, but more then 2 parties are better then 2, divides the power per party makes each less powerful and ergo less corruptible) end the electoral college, we have the technology for high speed vote counting and for preferential vote counting now, fuck we have the technology now for direct government, no more congress!

hummm, Certainly I'm a technocrat, add that to being a transhumanist neutral utilitarian... and pragmatist and singularitarian as well.

No because no one sees politics like me, so it is a loss cause.

Sure, there are a lot more to people than their political leanings. At least that is how I look at it. I just accept them for who they are and don't let it get in the way of our friendship. I do know that it isn't any fun debating with people who agree with you on everything though. So if you are looking for a civil convo about politics or religion or whatever then talking with someone who shares your beliefs is the way to go, but if you want to argue your point then not so much.

    Yes.

As long as their belief is that Politics is all bullshit.

Whether or not I get along with someone has nothing whatsoever to do with Politics.
Politics is just an environment. Do you get along better with people who enjoy the same food as you do??

    Irrelevant.

So, if I answer that I only get along with people who think food is all bullshit

    isn't there a problem?

Do you think you would get along with a Nazi who shared your belief that politics was all BS?

Oh come on Doreen; context, context.

No one can think that food is all bullshit. We all have to eat.

Out of context, and into semantics.

You don't think that a Nazi who believes all politics to be BS isn't a contradiction??

(I'm rarely home on a Fri. eve. I knew it was a bad idea... lol)

But this holds true for politics. I don't think the OP means by politics, do you like lobbyists, campaigns, debates and do you think politicians have your best interests at heart? To me it is asking about political values. Do you get along with people with similar political values. The word used was 'ideals'. Your response made it sound like because the machinations of politics are BS, the political values people have would have no effect on my tendencies to socialize and like people. I somehow doubt this is true.

I think quite a few American nazis think that American politics is BS.

See above, and see if I am misreading you. Are you really saying that all political values and positions are BS? If we go back in time and look at, let's see, civil rights politics...was that all BS?

Sure, much of the machinations might have been - here you and I am the hypothetical Nazi are probably in some degree of agreement. But the political ideals were not BS.

I am guessing that you would have an easier time being social with the people who modestly supported the marchers than the people who modestly sat at home and muttered goddam niggers, both groups potentially highly skeptical of politics.

edit: I think it would clarify things if you said what you meant by 'politics' - which you think is all BS. If you mean everything, including ideals and values, I will probably probe this position as I have above. If you mean the day to day politics of backroom and machinations and influence peddling, favors, popularity contests etc., then I think you are off topic.

And, by the way, my saying the American nazi thinks politics are BS was not me being facile. I think in general Nazis in the US are very skeptical of politics along the lines of the second meaning. As far as values, well they have those in gobs.

So you don't think that people can be apolitical??

Well, if that's the case, then the answer is obvious: yes. It should go without saying that one generally tends to get along better with peers....

    Perhaps.
I just know that, certainly for myself, and fro most of the people I know, "P"olitics plays little to no role in the nature of our relationships.

Now, note the capped "p"; by that I mean politics in the first sense I was using: the machine sense you mentioned. I distinguish it because, to me, what you've called "political values" (ideals) can be (and 'naturally' are..) apolitical.

    lol
You just made me think of the Blues Brothers.

So you don't think that "American Nazi" isn't a contradiction??

    On a value basis? No.
    On a political basis? Yes.

I try never to agree with every little thing that anybody says... I hate feeling like a yes-man or that I'm simply agreeing to agree. If somebody does happen to agree with every single viewpoint of mine (which they rarely do...) then I try to be objective and instead of simply agreeing, I challenge them on their ideals. Sometimes I'll do that and realize that what I believe in doesn't necessarily agree with my values, or the same will happen with the other person.

That said, my political ideals are changing all the time. They're not something you're born with, so when politicians have a change of heart, I'm A: not surprised and B: not angry. If those ideals no longer agree with mine, I simply vote for somebody else who shares those ideals if they're available.

No. I mean, they may not follow elections or read the newspaper or discuss politics, they have proclivities, values, likes and dislikes that are political. They will believe in property rights, for example - I mean that covers just about everyone, even theives tend to have ideas about who gets to have what. So in a discussion of ideals or values, no, I do not think anyone is apolitical. If they are, I think we can quickly test them - by approaching them with actions based on different political positions - until they bark.
Sure. But peerage - if that noun works here - could be a professional one. If you are a professor at a college, do you tend to get along with people who are on the same end of the political spectrum? I think this varies from person to person, though I would think most people would tend to get along better with peers whose political opinions are very similar than those whose political opinions are radically dissimilar.

But perhaps the dust settled long ago, so to speak.

I can imagine what this meant, but I am not ready to assume my imagination is right in this case.

I think my favorite part was all the SWAT guys going 'Hut, hut, hut....'

I'd have to think about that for a bit. But I meant it more as Nazi's living in the USA - apologies to non-USA Americans like yourself (though I'll bet Canadian Nazis also think politics is BS.)
Good. It's interesting how you grant the root 'politics' a meaning as an adjective you will not grant the noun. But I think we now have a working vocabulary between us.
