    Hi All,
    I'm trying to get my Blackberry Desktop software to work properly on Win 7. In the past when trying to install it I would get an Error 1406 code with this message;

    Could not write value discription to key \Software\MozillaPlugins\@Rim.com/webSLLauncher,

    version =1.0. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel

    I have followed many, many knowledge based suggestions from Blackberry forums but its still not solved.

    I was able to finally get the software to install without an error, however now when I open it from it's icon, it opens for a second as an empty window, (doesn't load), then closes by itself!

    Any advice would GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks.

    try updating windows installer, and or reinstalling it.

    Then try reinstalling the software, If your still having issues you're black berry software may just not be compatible with windows 7, try changing the compatibility through Properties. also try to find Updated software, for your black berry...I hate the first year windows comes out new..

    Oh and your windows installer should be min 2.0, i beleive it is over 3.1 now.

    Hi soullust,
    I have tried all of your suggestions already. Many people do have the Bbry DTM (DeskTop Manager) working with Win7.
    As far as Windows Installer, I would hope I'd have the latest version through Windows Updates, but I'm finding it very difficult to tell! I've tried to D/L different Installer versions but don't think I'm finding the right one for 7.

    I ended up clean installing Win 7 and everything is working again, even many other bugs I had going on. Once again thanks for your help!
