I am not sure where to post this thread and if it is in the wrong place please move it!!

Can you Design a Better Universe !

OK. Here is your chance to design a universe that is better than the one we live in. Many people claim that the poor design of our universe and/or God's involvement or lack thereof results in a universe that is unacceptable. In order to present a thorough model, please address all the following issues:

    1. Will the beings you create be equal to you or less powerful?

    2. What degree of free will, will you allow to those beings?

    3. How will you prevent those beings from hurting you, each other and their creation?

    4. What will you do with those beings that break your rules?

    5. What laws of physics will you use?

"think outside the box." The universe you design does not have to be similar to our universe.

Change the laws of physics, if you want to include that in your new universe

Think about gravity, thermodynamics, matter, energy, etc.

Think about the beings that you create. How will they interact with you and each other (you don't have to use the five senses that we have)?

Examine the four fundamental forces of physics and specifically modify (or eliminate) them improve your design for creating and sustaining the universe

    1. Strong nuclear force (keeps protons within atomic nuclei from flying away)

    2. Weak nuclear force (responsible for phenomena within the atomic nucleus, such as radioactive decay)

    3. Gravity (attraction between masses)

    4. Electromagnetic force (which governs interactions of charged particles)

    Comments??

Who are these "many people"? Source? If you are refering to atheists not believing in Creationalism it doesn't suggest they believe the universe is poorly designed, that would be an intellectually dishonest conclusion to draw.

If there are such people making such claims - they'd best limit their critique to our solar system, and better yet, this planet.

I'd throw some funny coloured stuff into a pond and come back in a few millennia. It'd be more interesting to place no limits on their potential. Maybe they become more powerful than I & we engage in a battle of cosmic proportions! Maybe they become wiser than I & show me what a douche I really am for throwing funny coloured stuff into a pond. An open-ended entity seems like the most entertaining & enjoyable way to create life; the most opportunity for novel situations to arise.

A lack of free will would entail that their being is determined by a materialistic, causal state of affairs. As soon as a chain of events occurs to which I can see the inevitable outcome - my creation would begin to bore me. So maybe complete free will, insomuch as I can imbue it, would be best. If they become masters of the universe it will be by their own doing. If they become Skeletorians hell-bent on cosmic destruction - it is by their own doing. I want them to determine how far a course they can plot from monkey-hood.

They can do as they please, quite frankly. I'm getting bored up here all on my own just playing with my deterministic galactic lego.

    What rules? They're free!

I would follow a strict rule of non-interference much like the ascended ancients (aka the others) from Stargate.

I wouldn't do anything. Just watch.

Sounds like a gameplan. Are you trying to sell an idea to some gaming company?

I would put inhabitable planets much closer together. As it is, it is almost impossible to realistically travel to another planet.

As I understand it, if the value of any of the Universal Constants were slightly different, the Big Bang would never have happened and our Hubble Volume would not exist. Therefore it would be difficult to change anything and not end up with a completely and eternally empty space-time continuum.

Do you think that this fact supports the idea of fine-tuning?

No universe at all woud be beter than the 1 we have now... but i coud make improvments on the 1 we have an turn it into paradice for all.!!!

    Less.!!!

They will actualy know the truth... an have the ability to feel as if they have free will any time they want.. but will of course have none.!!!

Ther existence will all be "virtual"... no actual hurtin goin on.!!!

I wont have any rules to be broken.!!!

For simplicity of answrin these questons... ones that apear to be like the ones "we" curently have.!!!

Well what about the awful way we have to sustain life, surely a god like being could create a better way of sustaining life, this kill eat other innocent fellow animals can be sickening.

Go visit an abattoir and you will see what I mean. What about another way of energizing our bodies, something like plant life by utilizing direct sunlight
