being unable to get the basic facts surrounding the country correct shows extreme contempt that make your opinion less reliable.

I have quite a few good friends living in Tehran. The solution isn't dropping bombs. The solution is education. We should start by educating our public sphere and from there knowledge will spread.

So, you never read the article, you are simply going on the responses here resulting in you agreeing with the article that you never read.

If this is the way one forms their worldview, then it's no surprise delusion would be the norm and ignorance prevails.

    How very sad.

You don't have to read every article or link to get a grasp on what's being discussed. I posted the appropriate selections that put the case we are debating in perspective. I usually try my best to quote suitable sources.

I agree that his initial response was kind of dumb. Maybe that link isn't viewable in his country?
You never know. Most sources I have seen rate Toonieland as one of the worst for state run media censorship.

How do you feel about gender reassignment? Sex change?

Iran apparently engages in a large number of sex changes. Is that an appropriate solution to homosexuality? You seem to say that in your previous post.

Point? That when two guys like each other, one of them must be a woman in disguise? And mutilate themselves in an appropriate fashion?

Sounds extremely Old World. Two guys. One of them must be a woman. Biology demands it. One of them must be a woman. And if they aren't, then they should change their gender.

    That's real cool.

So back when the Shah was in power the four guys would have been falsely accused of being communists instead of being homosexual and the corrupt judge still would have given out the death sentence but they would not have written articles about it in the west.

Corrupt local politics will use whatever tools are available.

Thanks for posting the explanation. I knew there had to be some explanation for why a guy is executed for sodomy even if he is does not do sodomy.

Being less politically connected than your enemy is dangerous in many parts of the world.

    yeah i saw it somewhere.
but i don't really should judge, i'm not against homos, but, if they want to be f*ked as for men, or to f*k as for women, should propably think about changing her/he's sexe, idk, but, i'm not with them, and i'm not against them, i prefer don't care

hehehehe, the reason of that, is that in iran there's a high number of homo, homo can't reproduce, inless you change some organs, in iran, not all homo change their hall sexe, some only change their organs, idk, but, i'm not with the homo sex, and i'm not against them, as i said, i prefer not to care about it, it's their freedome, but their freedome must stop where they stop other's freedome, if they want to have homo things, fine, don't do it in public. but i said, to be ignorant about something can be good sometimes, hehehe, because if i was against them and want to stop them, it wan't be fair, and if i was with them, it wan't also be fair, because it's not biologicly right, and just, not normal to me. so i'm not against them and not with them, i just don't care.

He stated he never read it and had no intention on reading it, yet he is compelled to comment on something he never read. It is to laugh. It serves only to demonstrate further the intellectual dishonesty of believers.

It seems that it is really their only option. Accept the death penalty or face deliberate mutilation of one's gender.

Very few homosexuals are transsexuals. Most men, regardless of if they're attracted to men, women, or both, have any desire to invert their penises.

James R was the first to hit it on the head.
Most homosexually oriented males like their genders. I would venture to say that it is one of the reasons they are attracted to other guys in the first place.

There is a mistaken belief that homosexual males are simply women with male bodies. Rather archaic one.

What an ignorant thing to say do you know many iranians? I have Iranian american friends and here in Norway I've worked with and even had iranian housemates. My experience is that they are some of the nicest and most interesting folks around. IMHO the only problem with iran is a certain five letter word but that is only my opinion.

Does anybody really not understand freedom and Justice?

Chaos and freedom versus oppression and order is a dilemma every society will always face.

Some chose more freedom and some chose more order. You have to dig around in a society's psychological history to find out why they make the choices they make.

But this story is not really about the pros and cons of theocratic dominance.

This story is about feudalism/organized crime/corruption taking over a judicial system.

Corporate criminality warps and deforms the USA's government and the politicians say it is a problem we must live with because that is how the system works and it's not really that bad. They say the system won't be able to function at all or the good guys will lose if you insist in rigid honesty. I would expect that the Iranian politicians are putting out their version of the same argument that corruption should be tolerated.

Unfortunately when corruption becomes to great the people will have to risk much personally without any guarantee of success if they want to topple corruption.

You always hope for the democratic process to work because civil war is hell. What would have happened if the Gore voters refused to accept the Supreme Court's selection of Bush? Also the people are such easily scare leadable gullible idiots that democracy becomes frustrating as we elect one bad leader after another even when the elections are not rigged.

Iran sort of has a democracy. The USA sort of has a democracy. The USA's democracy is not as pure as I would like it to be but I am glad it is a purer democracy than Iran has.

But If I would not even get off my ass to help that idiot Gore get the presidency he rightly won and had stolen from him then why should Iranians risk much more to replace their idiotic not truly elected leaders with some other not quite as bad idiotic leaders?

I don't think lack of education is the problem in Iran. The Iranian people are not unified in what they want and they don't yet have the resolve to make as many sacrifices as would be necessary to make a big change.

Away from the modern cities corruption and power politics might be accepted because that is all their ever was but Islam does not advocate tolerating dishonesty and corruption.
