I love Céline Dion. I made my own compilation from her French-language CDs. Le Ballet and Le Monde Est Stone are two of my favorite songs. I didn't even realize that she was well-established as a singer long before the Hollywood machine got hold of her and taught her to sing ditties in English. Now they've gone and done the same thing to Shakira. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Ojos Así is a magnificent song.
Heh, well I just found it really funny and ironic, because Celine Dion and homosexuality just happen to be two of the most sensitive topics in Quebec Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I remember one time I was hanging with some friends in Montreal, they wanted to go somewhere and I was like "that's gay, let's go do ____ instead...", they gave me sh*t all night for it, and I've adjusted my vocabulary ever since.
I once read that before the Americanization of Céline, some critics were hailing her as the next Edith Piaf. So please tell us what the French-Canadian slang word for "gay" is, so we don't make the same mistake! Do they actually say gai?
Since we are on the topic of Canadan singers, my girlfriends 14 year old little sister is currently making me listen to (and watch video concerts of) Avril Lavigne. She has been a huge fan for the past 3 years. I used to absolutely hate her but in fairness, she can write some good melodies at times.
Why does our shitty music make it outside Canada and the good stuff is lost in obscurity? Oh ya...Toronto. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AvoVdQtLcs&feature=PlayList&p=9A09B384E1E0DF34&index=0&playnext=1
hi everyone... ministry of sound - chill out.. they are pretty great.. as are all the dance/house cd's. i also enjoy jazz...it's good to have playing whilst cleaning the house or making sushi.
I love the DCGS genre: Depressed Canadian Girl Singers. Joni Mitchell, Alannah Myles, Jann Arden, Alanis Morissette, Sarah McLachan. I even like the happy ones like Avril and Shania.
Shock! I never knew Elvis was Jewish - this must be a hoax: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHVqqgFdJ4A&feature=related
