google has limits

  1. I finally found a limitation in google that sucks. When you upload a file to google docs and convert upon uploading to the google doc format, you're limited to how big the file size can be. It sucks because I know a site where you can download books for free as PDFs the sizes can exceed the limitations by a landslide and it sucks because sometimes I need to get the text translated to English. Sure, I could copy the text piece by piece into a google doc or directly into google translate, but it still sucks.

One might say that it is 'comforting' to know that google has limits

  7. lol it'd be great if their bot that scans the count of members and hits on this site could read what I'm saying and notify google.

I don't see why that wouldn't be possible, they are already pressured to scan for various words and phrases anyway.

If you Google a topic that's currently being discussed here, the odds are very high that SciForums will be on your first page of hits. This is, after all, the way many people find us. That's how I got here.

  15. I posted the question onto their fourm It's been posted before on there but was never truly answered and was just closed. So that might happen to mine but hopefully it will send them the message to do so. btw I forgot to get rid of the instruction stuff at the bottom of the post and can't edit it like I can with posts on here.

I would also say Google is limiting us and how we use the internet. Not too long ago, when I entered a search topic, I got a global list (in global order) of relevant sites. Now, it returns LOCAL sites by "auto-detecting" my location. There is no way we can deactivate this. I can't even change my location to any other country from (in my case) Canada. I don't like this. Any way I can prevent auto filtering based on my IP location?

dsdsds.. You can set a region in advance search or select a domain. To search only Australian education sites set the domain search field to edu.au

Personally it is handy to put priority to local sites.

I would close your question too, because it's not really a question.

What I read is &> "I want more for free, you're already doing me a huge favor already...but I still want more! I don't care that the issue is CPU_Time allocation to unprofitable actions, you should change it because you have more than enough hard drive space. So please google, do a better job. Thanks, here are some arbitrary specifications and an accidental copy/paste of the instructions you gave me."

  21. Well they're google. I mean if you think about it they really should have the cpu power and the hard drive. They use a ton of it for books and the email program anyway so why not this?

Yes, they are doing many things for free. Calendar, Mail, Voice, Talk, Finance, Blog, Chrome Web, Chrome OS, Google Desktop, Android and on...and on.

If you think it's not free because they profit off of advertisement...then you are entirely insatiable. Your standards are beyond a limit which will ever be reached.

Loading a book does not require much CPU time. Parsing a sentence from translation does.
