    Nay!

    Make that, a GREAT episode!

Wow. The writers finally showed up.

I was actually at the edge of my seat for most of this past episode (second to last episode of the season).

And it looks like Telford will be permanently aboard Destiny with--I hope--some of those bad guys. Though, that does smack a bit of the Maquis aboard the Voyager.

A pretty good episode. It held my attention. But I don't understand why they didn't simply pump all the air out of the gateroom as soon as they knew there was a threat of an unauthorized incursion. Let the invaders step into a vacuum. Why wait for them to show up and then pump out the air?

Until and unless they can build an iris for the StarGate, it would be a good policy to always keep the gateroom devoid of atmosphere to ward off unwelcome intruders. Hell, they could even build some kind of enclosure around it and fill it with some noxious gas so that anyone who sent a keno (or any other device) thru before sending humans would be discouraged from coming.

I enjoyed it, definitely, and the last one was good as well. A couple hiccups (not venting the atmosphere from the compartment before the wormhole dialed in the first place, though in their defense, most people coming through would probably have sent a probe first to check if there was air, etc., and if not, come through in vac suits, and not venting just enough atmosphere from the room to make everyone pass out once they were in. Not hard to do at all, with minimal risk of brain damage, and you'd have a few moments to send people in and tie everyone up before they all came to), but otherwise a good pair of episodes, and I can't wait 'till the new season starts.

They are the new Maquis, that was my thought when I saw the episode.

I do think some of them will be permanent additions. Given that Rhona Mitra (the female commander of the invading force) is a reasonably "name brand" actress, I'd be surprised if they brought her in only to kill her off (and I don't see how they can make her a recurring character unless she stays aboard).

I have watched part of the first season. I just could not get into it. Stargate SG-1 was the best and I liked Stargate Atlantis, but Stargate Universe seems to be too dark for me. The most I have watched on Scifi is Warehouse 13, Eureka, and Haven along with trying to catch up on Sanctuary online. I am a fan of Stephen King, so I really like Haven so far.

i agree SGU is not as good as the others in the franchise..they dumbed the ppl down, used to be they could fix anything tech..now they can't..

i have been following it just to see if it gets any better..on a scale from 1-10 it started as a 3..now its more like a 4..a little improvement but it could be better..

will wait and see what they end up doing with the new ship..
and when are they gonna ax rush? don't like him..

I thought this week's episode was a complete missed chance.
I mean, of course we knew that the Gate wasn't going to get them back to Earth, but I mean, come on, they could have at least used it to get some supplies, some new people on board, gotten rid of some people, etc. They set the whole episodes up as a SciFi writers' dream macguffin... but didn't use it.

I gotta admit, I'm getting tired of all the psychodrama. A lot less soap opera, and more SciFi please.

    Yep.

You and I are of like mind.

I swear I told my boyfriend, "Finally RICK!!! We're going to get some accoutrement! I'm so tired of the 'we're starving and under-supplied' plot device."

    But nope.

    Total cock-tease.

    Give that man a cigar!

How about, I'm fucking exhausted with Rush and his scheming behind the idiot-commander, Young's, back. Nobody is that good and nobody is that dumb. Both characters need to be killed off. I'd kill for a little Col. Carter!!! She would fit nicely into the darkness of the ship and bring a little smarts and a fair amount of intelligence that is lacking.

Look. I get it. They wanted a departure. But you know what? Sometimes a departure goes just a little too far. No fun. Boring.

    . . . .

    On another front.

So, lemme get this straight, the good doctor has been sneaking off to the ship's heretofore undiscovered bridge and NO-FRAKKING-BODY notices, inquires or sneaks around following him!?!?!?!? Jeez. . . it would be sorta cool if they had a remote controlled floaty eye-ball thing that could just sneak behind him without him knowing. Goddamned shame they don't have one of those in the show.

    lol

    Precisely my thoughts.

If only there was some sort of young hacker genius kid on the ship that was almost as supposedly smart as Rush so that he could notice what was going on...

    Yes. A terrible shame.

But they do have a crew of sub-par idiots who serve no purpose whatsoever. Ming Na? What, exactly, does she contribute to the story? Drama? Juxtaposition? Love interest? Intellectual stimulus?

    Oh. She's a lezzie.

Great. I feel so much better that a fellow homo is onboard.

The only reliably good character on the entire show is Lt. Scott. That's it. Kill the rest of them off, expect those invader people, and put him in charge.

I think the show is OK.

I do agree the show is missing some potential for example they could have worked out that hoover board from one of the earlier episodes as a hoover car, and recently they fixed that large dome on the destiny. It would have been nice if for one episode they actually founded a derelict space ship with a hughe solar sail or so, where they could have used the materials to actually patch up the ship in stead of a magical robot who goes around fixing stuff without spare parts.

As of the end of Season One, I think the show is crap. I haven't tuned in since to find out.
Ratings show the show is still crap...so I won't be tuning in any time soon.

So the writers finally showed up after making 10 episodes of crap and now we are supposed to start watching it because of just one episode? I'd think not, either you have good writers always for a show or you don't produce it.
