too obsessed with my own opinion to read through all the posts
    (how's that for honesty?)

anyway, don't they pump oxygen into casinos to keep people awake? and if so, doesn't that essentially disprove the original post?

I think it's the coldness of the fresh air that encourages a hibernation response.

I thought about that and probably there is a cut off rate/size somewhere. You see, if you are in a small room for a long time, you start to use up the oxygen and your brain is getting deprived of it, thus you get sleepy. That is what happens in a casino setting. (my opinion)

Now when the room (outside) is big enough so your personal oxygen usage has no effect on your enviroment, that's when oxygen' fastening effect on your metabolism can be noticed.

No, because in casinos, there is a number of factors that are specific to them:
    1. there are no clocks
    2. there is specific ambiental music
    3. there is the periodic sound of machines signaling that someone won
    4. there are many other people there who gamble

IOW, the added oxygen keeps people alert, while their senses are filled with notions of gambling; so they can focus more on gambling.

In a regular natural environment, our senses are not bombarded with specifically designed sensory input.

fresh air contains more oxygen........ when more oxygen gets body revitalised.......... but when we are exhausted then such air results in sleepy feeling........
