I think most people just wish their paycheck went up.

    That's California.

    That's England? In US dollars?

Where I live, in Australia, it's currently about US$1.40 per litre.

    1 litre = 0.264 gallons
    1 gallon = 3.788 litres

So that means it's US$5.30 per gallon where I am.

And that's helped by the current exchange rate, which is currently A$1.07 to US$1.00.

Yep, US$ and US gallons. Even dearer per gallon if I used proper ones.
It's £1.34 - £1.39 per litre locally. Not being a driver I just googled for my own post code. I have no idea what the national average is.

That much is true. We have been aware of the problem since the 70s.

The problem is easily solved. We need to drill our own damn oil. We need to drill anywhere we even suspect has oil. Enough with the Middle East, Mexico, Canada, Venezuela, Nigeria, Angola, and Brazil. We have enough. How long are Americans going to put up with $5 gas?

uh, no. eminent domain would have them drilling through your living room floor if they thought it was under your house.
They want to drill in Lake Michigan and considering big businesses environmental record, well, hell no!

some things are more important than money. God's planet perhaps???

If there was enough oil under my house they could have it. They SHOULD drill Lake Michigan. It's probably loaded. God gave us our own oil--enough to last a lifetime. We should use it.

Obviously not, or you wouldn't be importing so much from the Middle East.

We have to import because some people don't want us to drill our own. They want us to ride bicycles, drive motorcycles and little electric cars. They blocked Bush when he tried to fix the problem. They want to continue to throw billions at alternative energy which Americans will NEVER accept. We like our cars. We like our trucks... Some Americans are more concerned with the sea slug and caribou than with getting these gas prices down.

we? no, you. Its selfish Diane. How can you are more about your money and a car than God's living creatures?

So you don't drive a car or have any money? You've given all your money to the poor and live on the streets? You walk everywhere? God gave us enough oil for a lifetime for a reason--to use it as we want. He gave us the planet to use.

No, I drive to work, but that's about it. I also bought a car that gets very very good gas mileage. I do give to the poor. Why would I live on the street??? What has that got to do with the cost of gas??
And God didn't give us the planet to use, we are the stewards of this planet. We are to take care of it the same way we are to take care of our bodies.

If our job is to take care of the planet then we have failed miserably.

God told us to "fill the earth, subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

yeah, we are top of the food chain. And where would we be if we ate everything on the planet?
    We are to be stewards.
