I know its impossible but ,hypothetically, what do you think would happen on a world wide scale?
If say america invaded, failed, was successfully fought off, iraq decided to get some pay back and attacked the us as well as its allies, did a real good job and killed millions of people and forced the us and allies to surrender.
Perhaps this concept would be easier to fathom if you imagined iraq joined forces with a heap of other anti-american countries.
I feel as though even staunch anti-war people wouldn't like to see this happen, am I right?

Note: people who get-off on being tortured daily need not answer last question.

if that happened (which i doubt it will, but i will not rule it out), oil prices would be sky high, people couldnt run cars, we would have a greener planet! FULL STOP......no hang on there must be a draw back here, oh yea, saddam and other dictators would kill off a few thousand civi's each day just for the hell of it.we would not have a government any more because they would be killed (which might not be bad), and the country would go into disaray, murders would rise, vigilante groups would be born and private armies would grow....

basicaly the world would turn shit awful!

Nice question but not possable to answer, given that america is happy to use *even dare i say eager* Nukes you would have to assume Iraq currently had Nukes.
And the ability to Strike America, which they dont, and a large enough aresenal and the infrastructure to not only fight of the US..UK...Italy..Australia...etc.
But then still have enough left to launch strikes at the US..that would get pass their defences.

IF that were possable..we wouldnt have this situation in the first place ^_^.

In fact you would probably find America sucking up to Iraq and dropping all charges on him in return for a nice share of that Oil instead of attacking him for it.

*Pro Americans can now flame me for that all they want but given their policies over the past god knows how long and current, it's not a baseless assumption*

I believe Physco-Cannon hit the nail on the head. You would find America sucking up to Iraq IF Iraq had the capability to strike the U.S. I believe this is one of the reasons why the U.S. doesn't go after NK. North Korea has the capability. Note to Bush though-it isn't going to go away just by ignoring it. This is a really bad situation all the way around. Bush wants a war. And people you can deny that all you want, but the man is a nut case! While governor of Texas how many inmates were put to death? Now Bush wants more death. If he is as Christian as people say he is, he better pray to God or whoever he prays to-if he does-that he will not be 'burning in hell' so to speak. I really do believe the supreme being is frowning right now at Bush, Saddam, Kim and the whole lot *** running this planet. They won't be in power much longer though. Governments will be toppled-people will only take so much of their crap! That I can see happening, probably in my life time, and I will be there with the masses!

the thing is though, is the american public (the majority) are supporting bush, so him being toppled would be unlikly, americans are still on a high from his reactions after 9/11.......

    its a sad situation though!

im from the uk btw, and i truly admire the way the french are going about the whole situation and i wish blair would learn to do the same, unfortunatly he wont but we can dream....

    ye thats another thing.
America is so Democratic, Civilised and advanced.
But they still have Capital punishment, in fact a lot of them seem to worship it.

If they could get away with it, forget the live broacasts of Executions after lunch, they would make a show of it and have good old Gladiators back in the ring.

Even give a report *Which was nicely buried btw, well done Dubbya - Check the www.wsws.org but all the links to the report even on the Official whitehouse posts dissapeared before i saved or forwarded them but they must be about somewhere* that shows the blatnt abuse of the Criminal justice systems that see's the Government almost wilfully Hide or falsify evidence or deny people defence on stupid grounds so that they are made to face the death penalty and calling for dozens of overhauls to the system, even after a judge recinded every death penalty on his juristiction claiming the Capital punishment system to be "Broken" they ignore it, they go ahead, not a change made, not even a report, they buried it and carry on killing.
what kind of Civilisation is this.
Recently a British national was executed for a murder despite eveidence of blatnt mis conduct by the police forces and his Request to GIVE! DNA samples that will proove he is innocent as they will not macth that found on the female rape / murder victim.
What did the judge say to this, even though the evidence would then point to the one and only witness that accussed the British man, the evidence on which he was convicted...it couldn't be eneted.
New DNA evidence could only be take if it proved he was not at the scene, not to proove his innocence.
That BS provoked a lot of anger and shows how messed up the system is, in any case of justice all evidence should be considered, when a persons life is on the line or has been lost even more so but no, they said no you cant we are going to kill you "and did".
What did our Primeminster Tony Blair say about it when he say Dubbya the same week after protests and letters from dozens of outraged citizens...."so..when are we bombing the shit out of Iraq then".
Not a word....he didn't even defend the MURDER of his own people, his own Citizen and he didn't bat an eyelid.
    Viva American "Justice" *spits*

Have you heard of a book called the Manufacture of Consent. The majority of the public doesn't support GW, if that were so there would not have been more than 1.5 million people protesting in New York or close to 1 million protesting in California. Those polls that give Bush such support are focus groups composed of ultra right-wing conservative fundamentalist millionaires.

Which is why i say this isn't really a democracy as we know or think it.
In fact Tony Blair himself said "The public have a misconception of Democracy, it is not the will of the people or the majority".
Basically the new definition of Democracy is we vote who we want to do what the hell they want.
In practice *Refer to the 2000 florida elections* even the voting doesn't mean much.

It will really be farcical next election.

The electronic voting machines that will likely be used next election are manufactured by a company owned by Republicans.

Rofl, they don't even need that.
After the blatant and illegal theft of the 2000 elections (and even the quiet suggestion that soon disappeared that the elections should be put on hold indefinatly to avoid disrupting the "war on terrorism".
I think the coming elections will be just as much a farce and the oposition party have already capitulated and mr Gore will not be standing in this year i don't belive.

Iraq won't be able too, but were they able to fend off the US it would be interesting. they would of course never be able to directly attack the US, but they might go on to attack a few pro-US neighbors. this is however, extremely unlikely because were they able to repel the US, their military would probably be extremely weak. So, the only likely result would be a general moral boost for all the anti-us countries.

And could we keep this from being a general bash the US thread? or will we really have to explain how the electoral college works... again.

(gore has already pulled out of the elections, just to confirm that)

Having lots of general bash the US threads may be boring, annoying and repetitive, but it seems to indicate the weight of public opinion about what the US is doing. But anyway...

How many people here have been to Iraq? How can you suppose to claim that you know what will happen if you have never even been there? Do you believe the government regulated information you are fed? I've never been, so I'm not going to make general, unproven assumptions. All I can do is use history as a guide.

If America declares war on Iraq, then it goes against a whole bunch of UN resolutions. Iraq by itself hasn't got a chance in hell of winning against the combined US armada. However, once war is declared theres going to be a whole heap of Iraqi allies to contend with, as well as a pissed off UN. Unfortunately the US believes itself unstopable. Previous empires have fallen because of this kind of arrogance. The UN, being made up of representatives of all countries around the world including pretty much the whole of europe, is a pretty powerful organisation. A united Europe would be quite a bit more powerful than the US, thanks to a greater supply of troops and resources. If you've been paying attention to the rest of the world, you might have noticed that Europe is getting closer and closer to being united, and it could take something like a war it doesn't agree with to pull it together. I'm not saying europe is better than America, or vice versa. I'm just saying that its a good posibility that the rest of the world, who see the US as a big bully, could collectively trounce the US.

No, you are wrong about this. it shows what the general opinion of intelligent people on the internet (as I assume most of us to one degree or another are). Not what the general opinion overall is.

The UN is not powerful. Oh it does have power, but in the sense of a boxer paralyzed below the neck does.

And I think a united Europe would be very interesting. And I would very much like to see it come about, almost as much as a un-united states of America. The odds of the two are fairly close... the US is stuck together, and the EU seems to like hitting other parts of itself. Just a few weeks ago, Chirac told a few smaller countries (I apologize for not remembering their names) that they shouldn't have expressed an opinion if it was pro-US. and then NATO refuses to protect Turkey. Yes... a united Europe is forming, but not as quick as it could. When it does come about, it will probably not become a military superpower (certainly an economic one though), because Europe in general seems to not be willing to go to war.

Take a breath, guys, and think outside your box.

Iraq can win the war: it's people/political leadership/military themselves can depose Saddam Hussein, hand him over to the ICC, and then everyone can go home happy that war never actually had to begin.

Iraq would win, the US would win, the UN would win. Everyone could say they won -- even Saddam: he'd win by staying alive to fight another day.
