    Perhaps,
perhaps it will never start, that isn't out of the question even at this stage, of course america will make it look like they are definately going to attack if they want to scare saddam into dissarming.

So what u mean is that US is using bluff-and threat policy and just aims at scaring Saddam to disarm? But i dont think in this way...I think Bush is trying to get control over the the oil ....and he just uses the disarmament or weapons of mass destruction as excuses to start the war.

Who doesn't think the war has something to do with oil? well, me. That theory is getting old and I know america is never that obvious, so perhaps there motives are even more sinister and the oil is a relatively sugary front

Ok... maybe not , but I grow bored of hearing the war is about oil over and over again. These days half the people saying it don't even know why they are saying it, they are merely parrotting what they heard lots of other people say.
You really think all this could be for oil? Seriously? Maybe that will just be a perk that comes with the job but I think there is more to it than that.

Dr Lou Natic, then what do u think about the real motivations of US behind this possible war ?

Oil is definitely some of the reason, however, not the main one. Oil is suspected as a motive by so many because you'd have to be high to think that Iraq actually poses a threat to America.

The war WILL start (UN be damed) sometime before Duke Nukem (takes) Forever comes out.

If the US of A wanted to ocupy mid east oil fields they/we would take Kuwait's. We already have perhaps 200,000 troops there. We could just say it's ours now. Who could stop us (US)?
    We haven't and we won't.

Please use your brains, if it is not too late.

It will start as early as next Thursday, with over 300,000 US troops.

i know the oil argument has been played out, but it def holds some ground... the other motives will be more evident once the war is over... just gotta wait and see...

The oil argument holds so much weight

with me, primarily because GWBs company has first dibs on it once it becomes available, followed by his cronies. <^_^>

"If the US of A wanted to ocupy mid east oil fields they/we would take Kuwait's."
Too difficult to manufacture justification: We saved the al-Sabah mafia. Kuwaiti reserves are small, that's why they were slant-drilling into Iraq.

"We could just say it's ours now. Who could stop us (US)?"
The same groundswell of opposition, chaos, and terrorism that will inevitably evict us from the remnants of Iraq.

"Please use your brains, if it is not too late."
Very good advice. Please write your representatives, and your President, with this innovative approach. We can use it in foreign policy... I just know we can.

Once the bombs start going off, it won't be very dark anymore.

Nobody is going to be impressed with our URAH! and our NVGs when this thing bogs down into a hostile occupation of a disintegrating country- least of all the US and British soldiers who will have no in-country R&R, and will lose friends and die by all methods of nasty resistance for a very long time.

Alson distinctly unimpressed will be the civilians at home losing loved ones and facing increased terrorism.

Quite true Hype. That is one reason why we (US) will not take the Iraqi oil fields as ours.
But maybe a liberation tax? Our Democrats should love that. ;>

As for the occupation causing disintegation, I respectfully submit the oposit will be true. The Iraqi economy and it's people have been held down by Saddam and his gang. Even with the liberation tax, Things should improve remarkably inspite of the few Sadamites and other terrorists that will oppose the improvements.

Why won't there be in country R&R? There should be a Disney World there in a year or two.

Yes there may be increased terrorism here in the US of A but that would not be a major problem. I am certain it will not aproach the level of terrorism in Isreal and they are doing well.

After all, this is a war for the survival of the non moslem world (and for that matter, the modern moslem world) and we at home would suffer far more if we don't take out the likes of Saddam.

I think that the war will start within the next week before the next full moon.

As far as the war being about oil, if the only natural resourse of the middle east was "bannanas, does anyone really think we would give a hoot what happens there??

Would we have given saddam WMD to protect his bannanas?

Fudd, as it looms closer, and becomes inevitable, I am losing stamina to explain why the Kurds hate America's double deals and the Shia want their turn, and the Sunni fundamentalists, why Turkey will supply their guys, Iran theirs, al-Qaida and who knows who else will continue to supply theirs and you know what?

Yugoslavia was simpler. I am out of stamina explaining why the sky is blue. I think I am going to cave and say

    wait and see.
