Is there any way I can record the audio from YouTube videos?

IOW, can I create a wav file or mp3 file of the music/dialogue from YouTube videos?

    Thanks all!

Just start real player, or any program that you can record with, then hit the record button then start the youtube music...wallla, you have a recording of it.

Download a free program called "Audacity".

With that you can record from the "line out", which will record whatever your speakers get sent.

If you want to save your recording as an mp3, you will have to download the Lame encoder which is free also.

Audacity will do it, so will Adobe Audition, and basically any other audio software that can record.

If software fails, there is always the concept of the "analog hole". The digital audio has to be converted to analog at some point, so you could do something absurd like running a cable from your speaker jack into your microphone jack, and use the windows sound recorder, or anything that can record from microphone (including a tape deck).

Google Videos seem to have a higher quality sound. Has anyone else noticed that?

flv2mp3.com is what I use. No downloads or anything, and it's directly converting from the website to an mp3, so that's nice too.

Hi, I know that is an old question, but hope my answer can help you more.

Yeah, there are many programs or free one like Audacity to help us record YouTube audio or just websites that is special for converting YouTube videos to audio file. Now we can also turn to use recording program which is named as streaming audio recorder to record audio on YouTube or a website.

Ive always used audacity for this type of thing. Just remember to download the LAME mp3 encoder if you want to export the sound as mp3.
I recently hit a snag with the new beta version of audacity on Win7 64bit though. It can only record from a mic, not from the sound card - still trying to figure this out.

Th best way to do it for audio quality, is to download the video with 'Video Downloadhelper' for Firefox in the highest resolution you can - 480p, 720p, etc.

Then download a free program called 'Super'. It is so insanely popular, that if you google the word "super" it comes up first. That program will transcode the FLV file to an MP3. Just drag and drop the FLV file(video) into Super, tell Super you want an MP3 as output, you're done.

    yeah seriously
recording thru the kmixer/soundcard could introduce artifacts that distort the original sound

i download the required videofile then if flv > flvextract, if mp4 > yamb

/marvels at the ipod generation with their tinny sounds and sensibilities

oh and...flv and mp4 are both containers so just extract the streams
    flv usually yields mp3
    mp4 usually yields aac

trancoding will introduce generation loss since that shit is already encoded in a lossy format

The Firefox downloadhelper also has a converter function, just save the stream as mp3, couldn't be easier.

Actually you should directly recording youtube as mp3. Extracting music from youtube will not be too hard if you get the right one for you. Firefox toolbar freecorder and audacity can record music from youtube, you need first customize mp3 or wav as your desired output format.

Hi, there are more than ten ways for us to copy audio from YouTube and create a MP3 files. You only need to get the right one and start to play YouTube video and then record what you like. Also, you may have options to set formats before recording.
